stocke exhaust manifold

Postby robson » Mon Mar 23, 2015 3:54 pm

I am having trouble installing a stock exhaust manifold on the drivers side. Question does the manifold go in from the bottom of the car or the top. having real trouble either way. Thanks Charles signal10@bellsouth.net or 386/405-0073 My car is a Chevy Monza V8 2+2 Spyder 4speed.

Lift the engine back up a couple inches, lay manifold in place on the body first then lower engine.

do you have the correct manifold?
try loosening the steering column to steering box extension.

I have an after market manifold made by dorman. Dorman states the part is an exact match for my 1978 Monza V8 2+2 Spyder

It's funny that this manifold does not come up in a search when I use 78 or 79 Pontiac Sunbird.

I see the big difference. Does anyone know if there are headers made for the Monza V8 with manual transmission? Also how about a stock drivers side exhaust manifold other then Dorman, like an original manifold?

Those headers listed on Ebay will only fit V8 with Automatic tranny. I had those same headers on my Monza with an automatic. I have a 4speed now and the headers will NOT clear the clutch fork. thanks anyway. Charles. I found many headers for the Monza with Auto tranny. None for manual tranny.

I believe Clyde has the 7135's headers on his v8/4 spd car. Maybe you have the wrong fork or something.

What bellhousing are you using ?
2135 and 2129 Hookers fit with the stock cable type V8 Monza bellhousing.
Sandersons dump in the same location as the cast iron manifolds.

The bellhousing came on the car, unknown the model number.

Is the clutch fork actuated directly by the cable ?
