Shifter too high for my taste

Postby DarthVega » Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:49 am

Hey guys, I bought a TCI Fast gate shifter and the arm/lever is too long for my liking, I mean I could make it work it’s just a little too high, any of you guys run into that problem before? Or any options or ideas anyone could suggest?

Thanks

I am not sure on your shifter but on my Hurst shifter I also prefer a short stick. The Hurst ones bolt on like yours and have many options but maybe you can cut the arm down and drill a couple new holes for mounting. Not sure if you can also shorten the reverse lockout. You may need to get creative...........

Yeah that went across my mind a couple of times, I also thought of mounting it below the trans tunnel surface with a box around the working components, but not sure of how much space is available or if that is possible it advisable.

TCI has Tech Support available, either by chat or phone:

https://www.tciauto.com/contact-us

Give them a call and see if they have a solution.

I work for Tech Support for Federal-Mogul/DRiV, Inc., that's why we're there.

After tinkering around I think I’ll use the recessed tray the E brake was in just moving it forward a bit, and going with a aftermarket E brake under the dash or a button style, the depth of what the E brake is set at didn’t seem to interfere with the drive shaft and it’s already tested and proven to fit and withstand any elements it will face
