You can see at his web site here http://monza.homestead.com/files/Starfi ... sStudy.htm

1977 - 5,269 Starfire's had the GT option. That is 27.6% of the car line. Brian

Thank Brian with an "I" too, he has been instrumental is acquiring this stuff, I just do the easy stuff and break down what he finds. Unfortunately we don't have a further breakdown in regards to what GT's had a 305 etc. I'm sure the number is damn low.

NHRA Stk Starfire wrote:Thanks Bryan for the hard work. I have been away for a little while but just started getting back to the Starfire project. Looking over the data, it is surprising ( and nice ) to see that only 668 1977 Starfire's were equipped with the 305 option. Wonder how many were in the GT model like mine. Makes mine even more of a keeper and worth the time/money I am starting to put in it, :th:

You guys are amazing!!
Alot of valuable info put out there. I wonder how many other vehicle forums post this kind of stuff or even as thorough?
Bryan, did you never get a copy of my build sheet? Anyway, I'll post the build codes to here and there are similarities.
2-Country of Origin- Canada
M-General motors Producer code-Pontiac Division
07-Body style code- 2 door hatchback coupe
A- Engine code- 231 cu. in. V-6
A- Year code 1980
7- Assembly Plant code- Lordstown Ohio
512125- Production sequence code- Each car built in 1980 was assigned a production sequence number.
Starting with the number 500001 and these numbers cont'd on in sequence with each car built. Mine was the 12,125th built in 1980. pontiac recorded that 110,819 Pontiac Sunbird models were built in 1980 and that only 2507 were sold in Canada.
Further information documented from G.M. states that only 358 were built with the Formula package [W66code] in 1980

Info found on the body plate [on the cowl portion of the firewall] this info is on my car..
80- Model year code - 1980
10A- Build date code- first week of October 1979 code
HM07- Pontiac Sunbird Sport 2 door Hatchback Coupe code
7512125- Sequential build number code- No code breakdown [plant use]
19G- Trim code- Black cloth seat code
15L- Lower paint code- Platimum silver colour code
15U- Uper paint code- Platinum silver colour code
75A- Stripe colour code- Red stripe colour code
L- Paint type code- Laquer
A51- Front Bucket seat code

If your vehicle was exported to Canada, you can obtain a G.M. build sheet from Oshsawa. George Zappora is the vintage car specialist there and for around 50 bucks, he'll send a legitimat build sheet in colour!

Other codes on my build sheet that might be of interest to anyone...

AD3 - Removable glass sunroof code
BF2 - Deluxe carpet code
B18 - Deluxe interior ornamation code
B77 - Windshield reveal molding code
C49 - Rear window electric defogger code

YO7 - Painted side window trim code

Please note: Some codes will not be present on vehicles sold in the U.S and exported overseas eg. NA5, C49, VK3, Z49

This is a very well optioned car and the reason for posting this build sheet info. If you know of another W66 Sunbird, please contact me. I have researched for over three years and have been unsuccessful as there was a very low number produced.
I hope these codes are of significance to any one. Thanx, Ron...

Hey Ron
happy New Year

I think I might have your build sheet saved somewhere on my computer, I'd have ato look. I went through the RPO Codes you listed and I was missing 1 of them on my master list so it was worth going through it line-by-line.

The W66 production figure you have is for Canada only, 1,987 W66 Sunbirds were made for 1980. The 110,xxx figure represents that body style with that 2,507 were shipped to Canada.

Thnx, and to you and Michelle!
I'm glad it helped a little. I still find it ammusing about some of the codes the factories use like, W84.
This might mean "additional fuel for delivery" and "Burnout for the delivery truck driver code"!
One thing for sure, there are many codes for different equipment and it's pretty kool to compare your vehicle with this info.
Glad that there isn't a code for: TBP6 code....Took Brake during Production 6 times
BOF4 code.....Built On Friday at 4pm code
OST code.....OH SH-T code
TNK code......They'll Never Know code
or my fave.. IIQTY code... Is It Quitting Time Yet code...
If any one has one of these codes, it is likely during the dispute and unhappy time the assembly line guys and gals were having at the Lordstown Ohio plant. Just a Rumor. :!:
P.S.
I think I found another possible code: :bang: :bang: code? this was on the build sheet of my Olds Tornado, beside the nuts, bolts, and washers that were placed inside the frame and supports and under the rear seats!... :cuss:

You gotta love the antics of some of the line workers. I'm sure Ken has a few stories from his days on GM's line in the 'shwa.

I used to work for a Dodge dealership and we used to fine bottles tied to the inside of some of the body panels...
I guess sometimes they just get bored of doing the same thing over and over and over again...gotta pass the time somehow...lol don't know what code that would be...maybe BITP...bottle in the panel...or ROT...rattle on turns...lol

As you can see on this page, http://monza.homestead.com/files/MonzaP ... umbers.htm there is no way of seeing that in the figures we were able to find, unfortunately.

I own a 75 Monza 2+2. Is there a place that that I could go to get info on how rare mine is? It is a factory v8, 4 speed, a/c car.

Unfortunately no, the 1975 production figures we have also include Vegas with no way of breaking them down further into Monza/Vega specific figures unless we get lucky and another list pops up in the future. If yours is a 262 V8 then they are pretty common anyways, only the 350 V8 was the rarity and the 4-speed was standard and therefore more common than an auto.
