I have decided to add the bright belt moldings from a hatchback Vega on the doors as part of my "SAFARI" package. The "NOMAD" has a lower quarter window molding that I wanted to try and match on the doors. I think it will give the car a more "Premium" look. I found a set of moldings for $50.00 plus shipping. I had to determine if the wagon doors had the provisions to mount the moldings, and they do. I also then had to determine if they could be modified for the installation of the applique on the rear of the window frame for the "SAFARI" panels. And they can. All I had to do was remove the outer window belt fuzzies, and save them. I then temporarly installed the moldings and laid the upper door trim panel on to mark the molding. I then used a hacksaw to remove the extra material. About 1 1/4 inch in length. I removed the old bad fuzzies from the back of the moldings and used them as a template on the good set that I had removed. The only trick was to remove all the mounting clips from the fuzzy so it would lay flat to the molding and could be re-stapled on to the molding. I am now going to have the anodizing removed from all the bright molding on the car and have them polished. I have found someone to gloss clear powder coat them then for protection when I get them back. I also cut the front corner of the quarter window top moldings to clear the panel as you see in the first picture. The quarter window front molding is eleminated so the panel will lay flat to the glass.
