Welcome to the lists, Man. That's a really nice looking Coupe. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Are you planning on doing anything to the 305 before you drop it in?

I've always liked the look of the Torq Thrust D.

Good luck with your project! It's similar to mine but I think you're doing a bit better than me, especially if you actually have TIME to work on it! :)

swaps

Postby 2lucke4u » Fri Dec 29, 2006 10:26 pm

If i'm correct the 200r4 will require some tunnel mods to get it to work, also you will need to fab a trans bracket, easy to do out of 1 inch square or 1x2 stock,we used a th350 but would have loved a 4sp auto, also with a lot of hp that 200 wont be around long, not to turn you off on it,,but you did ask,,chime in here guys if you have done this swap,,,

trans tunnel

Postby 2lucke4u » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:15 pm

Bowtie
The size of the transmission is larger in the wrong places, required clearencing of the tunnel the trans fits up into under the car,you may get it to fit with a few good hammer blows hear and there,I would mock it up before you comit, the trans bracket is a toss up,modify the one you have or make a new one,I would keep the one that fits a th350 and make a new one with the correct offset to handle the 200,,,,,,sometimes using what you have is more work than putting in what your going to end up with anyway,,,,did I say that right???in easy terms,,,,,,,,,,,if you will end up with a th350 in the end,,,go for it now, its a lot less work,my opinion only,,you have to look at what you can do yourself or have to farm out,,,

I'll bet that the 200R4 will fit without any problems but will most likely need a custom crossmember. The trans mount is in the same position as the TH400. The torque arm could easily be mounted to your transmission crossmember, just pay close attention to your pinion angle before everything is welded up.
The 200R4 you have now is most likely just as tough and durable as a TH350. These little overdrive trannies can easily handle big block power with the right modifications. The overdrive feature alone will make the tranny worth keeping.

I think you are right,I am confusing the 200r with the 700r,its the trans crossmember you will need to fab or alter, thats why I asked others to chime in,,,
