Changing fuel lines around next, steel lines near engine aren't good. Needs more starter too, weak and gets heat soaked.

New starter works awesome. I made the mistake of running a steel fuel supply up the passenger side of this car years ago before exhaust was installed. Line ends up having to cross over the heat twice. I also use the steel lines for the TBI from the donor van. Had some vapor lock issues, so tore it all out and replaced with braided nylon hose running up driver's side.

5/8" ID heat sleeving fits nicely over 3/8" fuel line and is stretchy enough to work over clamps / fittings. Available as a velcro wrap or slide over https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dei-010472

I used firesleeve on all my fuel line and starter wires. I like it. There are a number of things to do to prevent vapor lock, best thing I did was add a return line to the fuel tank. This keeps the fuel circulating all the time instead of dead-heading at the carb. I have a dual inlet carb so it actually flows into the carb first and then exits the other "inlet" through a .070 orifice and back to the tank. Keeps just enough fuel moving to keep it cool. It also helps to have a phonelic insulator between the carb and manifold to prevent over heating the carb. With these mods I have zero issues.

The throttle body does have a return port which I have plumbed to the original 5/16" supply line. I haven't seen a base insulator for it, if I still have issues I may have to make one. No room for breather to go up so would require modifying the hood inner structure slightly. doh lol

New rear main seal installed and main caps re-torqued. One piece Fel-Pro pan gasket comes with these temporary studs that make the job easy.

Yes the one piece gaskets are soooo much better than the 4 piece ones, I have used them a few times now and would never go back to the 4 piece ones. A bit more money but way better and I have never had one leak.
