Dash. I went in with model paint and cleaned it and re-painted and refreshed some spots.

i've also found a digital guage cluster that practiacally bolts right into my stock dash to update the car without having to hack or customize anything! I will post up pics when that arrives.

It should be coming out of the chasis shop in the next few weeks. I will have more pics as soon as that is done. It's just going to be a cool cruiser with power locks and windows thats quick but not crazy quick.

Welcome. I have mix feelings. I hate to see the early Vegas get cut up unless they are beyond restoration. But it will be a nice car when done. Stock, drag race, autocross, street machine, the early ones look the best.

I agree we werent planning on cutting it up but once we got it home we realized that the back end (from the back seat back)was rusted beyond belief. So we had to replace it anyways and figured while we are at it we might as well make it safer by adding the frame and cage. For some reason the guys don't seem to think little ol' me could handle it.

But I did try to save as much of the interior and everything as I could to keep from having to make it a complete gutted race car as I really don't want it to be anything more than a SAFE quick cruiser.

Welcome, vegachick.
Looks like the project is progressing nicely. Good welds, too!
Matt should know that a car sitting in the weeds is gonna have rust problems underneath.

But, I agree that the early Vega needs to be saved.
You'll see that theme run through a lot of the threads here on H-Body. Not all agree with this philosophy, but it is your car and do what you can to save it form rotting away or from the CRUSHER.
Are you going to turbocharge the 140 SOHC L-4? :)
Glad you are able to make something from this Vega "field sitter".

Where did you get you fiberglass lower valence from?

Hey new H-buddy. Cool. I was wondering if you guys took that front fender off before you patched it? It's likely that it rusted because that is a spot where leaves and stuff likes to load up. You would have seen the debris from the inside through the vent holes.

It may be worthwhile to pop that fender off and patch the underbody there.

Have you figured out what your powerplant will be?

Glad to see that one get some attention. It was looking pretty sad sitting in the weeds like that. Very cool. Thanks.

BTW you got a name or do you want us to just call you VegaChick?

I agree. I hate seeing cars sit like that and the owner not wanting to sell it because he has plans to fix it, then 10 years later it's still there in much worse shape. It's always nice to see them go to a good home.

Nice!! 8)

I'm in awh of anyone that can pull a car out of a field, start cutting out the bad stuff, and welding in new like you have. The fabrication skill of the members here is amazing to me.

What are your plans for the front suspension?
