Looking good !
The battery tray area was the first thing of many on my MIG list.
A V8 Vega seems like a never ending project, but my welding has improved with all the practice it gives me.

Sand blasting some parts getting ready for paint. Bumper brackets from a 71 hatch back that now fit my 74 wagon. Part of the transformation !

Thinking about putting a Bronco II 4x4 frame under it !! NOT !!
Image

Did some metal work today on the hood! Welded in fillers where I cut through the under hood structure! I hate when I see cutouts with open structure cuts!

That hood is looking real nice after the sheet metal work.
Did you just remove the pins to take the doors off.

Thanks! I'm going to take the hood down to bare metal, massage it and re primer! I Hadith dip stripped years ago but only used rattle can primer so it wouldn't rust. You talking about the car door hinge pins ??

My pins and bushings were shot. I removed them , found some bushings at auto parts store, and to drill hinges to make them fit. Pins were to long but modified them !

Well im not dead, just been busy with life. Just graduated my third and last kid, got a lil more time for myself. my vega interest has again sparked. found an ex drag vega wagon 71-31 style, im picking it up soon with some good reusable parts. It sat beside a highway until a drunk kid lost control, went airborn and landed on top of the vega killing him. whole top is caved in, even the cage. its got good steel front fenders, hood and upper valance. good rear bumper, v8 motor mounts, trannie mount, panel wagon panels, one is damaged but can be fixed, steering box. taking what I need and might sell the rest. A narrowed 10 bolt with coil overs. not sure what gearing. Ill be keeping the coil overs and selling rear end.

Well I got the parts car home yesterday. The front fenders are solid much to my relief, have never had any repairs, just surface rust. Started disassemble, going to sort what I need to keep them sell the rest. Has a narrowed 10 bolt that will be for sale soon. Had one good delivery panel, the other is damaged from the car landing on top of the Vega. It might be fixable, those will also be up for sale.

Progress !! Fit up of the steel fenders before body work. The green one is from waybad’s car as well as the aluminum radiator. Cut out old lower radiator support, made opening bigger and welded in new cross brace and brackets. Fab’ed up some lower cushion brackets. Mounted radiator as far forward as possible. Had to shave some spots in lower valance but lower spoiler hides it.
