75 VEGA budget build

Postby vega 350 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 6:45 pm

Here are some pics of my build. I'm on a real budget so most of this if not all will be done by myself. All of you guys have input that i use. This is the first full car build i have done.I have done some imports and some fords before but i like my chevys. I had an s-10 with a 400 SBC that was a fun ride.
I started this project about 6 months ago so i will try to get up to speed of where i'm at now.

yes i did move it back 3 1/2 inches .Doing this it made the wheelbase 101" i think. still have to decide if i want to move the front of the wheelwell back or not. What do you think? I think it don't look that bad.But some people like the gaps to be the same.I am also thinking of moving the motor back 2"To move the center of gravity back and take some weight off the front. Thinking of going with a motor plate.Do i need a mid plate if i do that?

I know its work, but I believe a tight an even fit of the wheel well sets off your work. It sets the tone for the work done when its perfect. Since the rest of your work looks great, I would do it. Just my opinion.

what size is that tire ??

and i considered moving the rear back as well but decided to leave it .

as for the midplate i,m gonna run one with the motor plate , even with both plate you still need a mount off the block to prevent the motor from moving front to back , the plates flex , the side mount prevents this . my buddy learned this the hard way went thru 3 tranny housing and the thrust on one motor , added the side mount and no more issues

Hey Yencoboy where is Batavia in Oh? I lived in Warren,OH a while back. Thanks for the input.
The tire is 29.5 / 10.5 . Demon do you have any pics of the side mounts? I have the trans-dapt mounts now. I don't like the look of them ,I don't know how they will hold up in drag racing. I want it to be solid...
