Currently prepairing the Vega for paint. Took the crash bars and all of the sound deadening material out of the doors. Drilled out the spot welds and cut the bar i two pieces to get them out.
Total weight savings for both doors is about 14 kg =)

Slowly making some progress on the vega. Got the driveshaft shortened and bled the brakes and clutch. Yesterday the car actually moved under its own power for the first time in 22 years!
Currently repairing the last rust area wich is the left front fender. Also prepairing the body for primer.

Dont want to bore you with rust repair pictures, promise this is the last ones! Feels like a big milestone to have finished all the rust welding. Driver side front fender had more rust than expected, it was covered nicely with plastic filler..

Not boring at all. Being a bodyman myself, I gotta say. nice metal work. I know what it takes to do that stuff.
I really really really like the part about, moving under its own power.
Thats Gotta feel good.

Thanks!
Yes, that was a great feeling. I was tempted to take it for a ride around the neighborhood, but probably not a good idea without the windshield, doors etc =)
Also have som minor issues to sort out, like a leaking water pump and the cooling fans that dont wish to operate.

Gad that's a lot of stitch welding but with beautiful results.
Did you get a cramp on your trigger finger doing all that stitching?

Some action on the Vega project. Assembled the body panels to check for fitment issues prior to paint. Currently the car is disassembled again and hopefully it will be painted in about a month!
