My SCCA ITA Monza is alive again!!

Postby Shortcutsleeping » Wed May 27, 2009 12:51 am

Most of you probably don't go visit the 'racing and autocross' section but I thought some of ya'll would like to know another racer has been put back together and will be on the track this weekend for a shakedown.

Starts: http://www.witchdoctormotorsports.com/ch135.htm
Ends: http://www.witchdoctormotorsports.com/ch139.htm

The car is a 1978 Monza with the 3.8 and a 5 speed. Hooker supercomps to a custom y-pipe/flowmaster to a dump. Auburn 3.73 and 15x7 with 225.50.15 "r" compound race tires.

I'll try and take some video this weekend and post it up.

Hi folks,

The car is pretty basic and I've answered a ton of questions in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=27093

But please feel free to ask me anything specific. I've got no real secrets (well...a few....heh) and will share whatever I can. Assuming all goes smooth I'll post up some video next weekend.

Cheers!

Wow. I like the end where you were going so fast that the camera op couldn't keep up! What was your top speed?

Yes, it was indeed a TON of fun to have the car back on track again.

Sadly, the tires were pretty old and it showed if I pushed the car hard. Oh well, the point was to simply make sure everything worked okay, and it did.

As for speeds, I see about 125 at the end of the front straight and it is fun to be zinging along in that little car at that speed.
