The camaro/monza add is the one I just got, as is that Road Hawk poster, both from Autolit.

I don't have that DAE pic, but I have a few better ones so that won't be one I'm going to try and acquire.

Autolit has a tonne of stuff I would love to have if I could justify the expense. I have close to a hundred (maybe more now) GM press photos and literally dozens of H-Body magazine ads and numerous posters and a good number of them were from Autolit. They are in Syracuse, just a few hours south of me but I'm afraid of going to the store in person, I could get far too carried away in there. Eventually I will but for now, I'll just scoop up the odd item here and there.

Bryan, looks great! Number 1 point of reference in my book.

Need you opinion on this, Pontiac Sunbird Safari woodgrain paneling (BX3) is it possible for 1978 the RPO code D85 is used for this? The Report singles out the Wagon as the only Pontiac H (HM15) to get this option with only 225 getting it.

This is from your RPO list - D85 Solid Stripe Body Side Accent / Sunbird Safari Wagon Wide Body Stripe (1978)

The RPO W50 is on the 78 report also which is the Wide Body Stripe for the Sunbird. Crazy thing RPO D85 shows 184 getting it in 79?

Let me know, Brian

Hey Brian
Well, the BX3 was used for the Astre but no numbers for the Sunbird was weird. I got the BX3 from the 78 Pontiac Product Manual, showing "BX3 - Woodgrain Paneling, Exterior".

The D85 is also listed with pics and is a Safari-only option and shows 4 colour choices for this wide vinyl decal (couple/few inches wide at most).

The D85 was available for 78 and 79 Safaris, bu the woodgrain was a 78-only option, as far as I can tell from the Lit. I have in front of me.

I think the D85 was used for other model lines' striping packages, if I'm not mistaken, hence the first part of the statement in the RPO Code listing.

The W50 was the Wide-Body appearance package for the regular sunbirds - http://monza.homestead.com/widebody.html

To be honest, I'l still leaning on BX3 being the code, since I have nothing else showing it to be different (definitely surprised it is listed as being different than the Monza Estate Wagon YC6 code for the same exact woodgrain package).

Alright that answers that then! Sounds like the Safari wide body stripe was nothing like the Sunbird's wide body stripe so thats why there are different RPO's. Thanks, Brian

I have the buildsheet for a Black Sunbird notch. with the Gold Wide body kit, if you want some RPO's off of it. I say some because of course, a chunk is missing.

I noticed that in the box on the buildsheet labled "Hydropierce" It says Gold. More on that box in a minute.

The car was at a place called Nick's in Revere Pa. about 14 years ago.

Looking at the Sunbird Formula site. Well done, Great job! I noticed here that hydropierce - where all 78-80 decaled cars got a code. non decaled cars had a ***

For 78 the Blue would say PF1 for red PF2 and for gold PF3. I would venture to guess 79 and 80 would be similar.

Marco
Not missing, they are there, listed under the regular Super Stock Wheels. I cannot recall ever seeing an RPO Code for the Chrome wheels, they were always part of the GT package, and according to the Oldsmobile Advance Ordering manuals, the Super Stock wheels are N73 and they were automatically issued Chrome for the GT and for the 1979-80 Firenza, Metallic Silver Paint. If you have an RPO Code for it, I'd love to see it.

I do have a part number though, from a collision estimating guide (Mitchell manual). 13x6 Custom Sport 3978191 and the 13x6 "Chr" Spoke wheel is 553350.

Brian
Yup, totally different items. The production numbers for the D85 just didn't add up either, way too low for the woodgrain application. Heck, the Astre had 4 figures for 3 years straight and the Monza Estate was almost 2,500. Even money says the BX3 totals compare favourably to what the Estate Wagon had in '78. Why they are missing from the figures you were able to dig up is a mystery (among many eh?).

Your right, just checked, looks like the Estate was a YC8 but part of that 'package' was the BX3 woodgrain paneling (which was standard on the Monza Estate). But there is no YC8 on the Pontiac figures either!!! BUT Chevy numbers don't add up, almost 2,500 YC8s but only 42 BX3s?????????

For the Formula stuff, I need the 77 figures, the paperwork I have doesn't list it.

Oh ok... I just didn't see the pic of one and posted..I see where reading the descriptions would have helped, lol. I could take a good pic of mine but there on the spyder with chevy caps on them right now.

Your listing YC8 you mean YC6? that's what this one says.

Yes, I meant YC6.

Don't worry about a pic of the chrome wheel, I have the basic Super Stock listed, pointless in having another, just a different colour. Unless there is a different RPO Code for them (Silver metallic and chrome), I won't worry about it.

I thought it was worthwhile to have the chrome wheel listed since it was exclusive to the Starfire. A special rim for the olds since it didn't get a unique alloy rim like the rest of them did. But it's all good. no sense in being redundant.

I noticed this when I posted the 75 report with the BX3 RPO. The "models" number is for the 2 door station wagon. I thought it was just saying they put the woodgrain on those but they weren't considered an Estate wagon?

I guess there was more to the Estate than just the BX3 then. As for the Safari, there is no mention of YC6 whatsoever.

As for what your talking about, if i understand you correctly, wouldn't that mean the production figures would be higher than the YC6, if they put woodgrain on some wagons that were not Estate' ones (The Estate numbers plus whatever else there were)?
