BBT, That sounds pretty Nice  ! So your now Vega is ready for the open road, are you going to come to the MonzaQue? I suppose it would be nice to give the Vega Regulars something other than the Monza's to look at! The poor First Gen's are usually seriously outnumbered! (last year was the only time since Bryan has posted Pic's that it was a tie, and in 2012 it was 4 2nd Gen's :3 1st Gen's. I would personally like to see it as I'm sure others would! And your car could cause the "Upset". Thanx for sharing Harry

Thanks Harry, its about a 4 hour drive for me and I would love to turn the tides, unfortunately I don't think this year is the year I'm finally going to make it down. If things change I'll definitely let Bryan know ahead of time though!

I've finally racked up 200 miles, changed the oil and re-adjusted the carburetor. Turns out I was only getting 3/4-7/8 throttle (and that seemed like enough). Still haven't gotten a set of mufflers and I'm having a hard time choosing a smaller front tire because I like the look so much. Id like to lower the car 1-2" so I need to see how much further out i can get the front tires to clear the inner body since they rub at full lock (215/65/15 in the front, 235/60/15 in the rear, both ~26" tall). I will report back once I get a chance to take the car for a drive/run it through the gears, I can't wait!

*Edit*
Just came back from a show, what a difference the new setup is over the old. Car runs fantastic with plenty of midrange power that just pulls smoothly into the top end. Having shifted the torque band up in rpm a bit doesnt seem to make a difference in such a light car. Couldnt be happier right now!

I have been having problems with the car lightly smoking at start up, idle and in between shifts at wide open throttle. Finally got it narrowed down to intake gaskets with the help of a local car guy. After doing some checking it seems like it was probably my fault as I seemed to have overlooked the size of the porting on my new heads which caused poor sealing. I should have it back together in a few days and hopefully we've found the problem. Aside from smoking the car has been running flawlessly up to this point.

Some bad news is that because I need to get new mufflers/get the exhaust modified a bit I wont be putting on my crossram intake until a later date, since I've already waited this long I guess a bit longer wont hurt. BUT I couldn't help but test fit it, looks amazing and actually fits better than I expected. I will need to either cut the hood or get a fiberglass one for whenever I decide to change it over. I can just barely get the valve covers on with the intake/carb/alternator there, but it does fit!

Had a fun morning at the drag strip, new mufflers were great on the drive out there/back, did about 100 miles today and its MUCH quieter. My first time drag racing at a track and my best time was 14.594 @ 92mph in the 1/4 spinning through first the whole time. No matter how soft I launched I couldn't get any grip past 1/2-3/4 throttle (only made 3 passes because its a big event), first gear was essentially 5000rpm waiting for the road to catch up to the tire (car was going dead straight trying to hook), 60 foot best was 2.4 so its no surprise the overall time was so slow. Im not at all disappointed cause it is a street car, in street trim that just drove to the track and aside from the lack of traction I was having issues with the car not revving past 5800, i've had the issue before/it seems to be an intermittent problem that happens occasionally so I'll have to chase that problem down. I see the car at a low 13 second pass at ~100mph if setup properly and I am okay with that. For now I have some issues to sort out but I love this car!
Might not have been a fast set of runs but this was me alllllll day  :burn:

Did some minor work today, finally re-installed my line lock and started my little wiring project. My goal is to disguise the line lock controls, with quite a bit of work I was able to replace the rear defrost switch and wire in a small LED circuit to let me know whenever the line lock has power. Also created the relay portion of the circuit and fully tested it. The final step is to wire it under the dash.

Finished the wiring today, electronics shop didn't have the same neutral safety switch that I bought 4 years ago so I had to make a new neutral safety switch bracket to accommodate the larger one. The old bracket flexed a lot and reflected my capabilities at the time (it got mangled up during removal too), the new bracket is solid and places the neutral safety switch directly inline with the pedal. Also fixed my creaking clutch pedal return spring.

Linelock demonstration video, burnout videos to come in the summer. Tough to look through the camera while filming but ya'll get the point:

Here is a video of the new mufflers from this summer, closed course :burn: http://youtu.be/MhaKj3uN1q8
Need to change the intake gasket cause the rear seal is leaking as of putting it in storage, I need to decide if I'm swapping my intake over or not since I picked up a spare hood to modify, its rough but workable.

Thanks guys! When I hear the car and it sounds no where as aggressive as it used to and I forget its mine, I like to say more tone less noise.

I look forward to launching the car this summer... maybe on some slicks or DOT cheaters, I'm a big fan of Hoosiers 26x9.5x15 QTP's (Actually a 26x8 slick with grooves).

Started work on modifying my rear lower control arms for my sway bar. A while back I had them modified by spohn because they were too long for my setup but they were shortened on the wrong end so my swaybar didn't fit anymore. I'm not much of a welder but it worked out alright, one more to go.

Between schoolwork and my final year project I've managed to get started on my crossram fuel system. Fuel blocks are $120-160 and because of the layout its a bit difficult to use tee fittings or alternatives (I'd like to use hardline). So with some time and planning I mimicked the fuelblocks I found online, but instead of inverted flare fittings I will be using compression fittings. The main feed from the pump is 3/8" and the lines that feed each carb are 5/16", by reducing the fuel line size it should maintain proper fuel pressure/flow when splitting to two carburetors (this is also what the DZ302 crossram setup used). Its a shame the pictures really highlights the imperfections,it looks pretty sweet in person. The aluminum block was someone else's scrap piece and my only expense has been buying some fittings.

I don’t think you want to use compression fittings. Double flare fittings are going to be safer.

I would have rathered inverted flare fittings however it was not possible to make with the tooling/block I had available. We've never had issues with them before on other cars but for now to keep the cost down I will be running them. Maybe down the road a bit I'll get myself setup with some AN to NPT adaptors and re-run the lines or make a new block.
