I get myself into enough trouble I'm not sure I need any help. On that note I'm more than likely not making it this year but I do have a couple of days off coming up so I'll see what I can get done.

Thanks! I must have missed your comment, barracuda tail lights in a camaro tail pannel. My car is a bit of a mutt!

The streetcar rides again! First real bit of driving in 3 years. Had the car out for the long weekend and did a bunch of driving.
Lots of positive milestones but also not without its failures!
Got myself stranded twice but within 10-15 minutes and some computer fiddling I got the car going again.
Plenty of work ahead of me for the fine tuning in the calibration but its coming around.

More updates to come (hopefully), I want to get the car to the state where I can daily it to work again, 100km round trip in traffic both ways!

Summer came and went far too quickly as usual, apparently working with the intention to fix a couple of "small things" to make the car a better daily driver took more time than I had anticipated. I guess I've always just lived with certain quirks that always made my car a bit impractical.

  • I finally figured out why I couldn't get the IAC working for 2 years. The IAC off RPM in a sub menu was lower than my targeted idle, obvious right? :lol: unfortunately it wasn't. So now I have PMW idle control which is pretty sweet!
  • Something as simple as a shifter extension turned into an elaborate yet sturdy fabrication project that also led to me opening up the tunnel for the shifter. I have yet to finish because parts from the USA are fetching a premium right now so I haven't gotten a good enough deal on a shifter trim ring and boot I want. Pictures to come once I get that sorted.
  • I decided to finally install heater hoses and switch the car back over to antifreeze, after owning the car for 13 years. A big step in being able to drive the car in the spring and fall.
  • Finally before putting the car away I noticed the engine laying over on the top end which had me pretty un-motivated because I wasn't sure if I was looking for an electrical issue, a tune issue or mechanical issue. Recurring theme but I'm really starting to miss carbs... After some debugging I'm fairly certain it was a valve lash issue from last year when I replaced the valve seals but I cant take the car out now to find out so that will have to wait until next year!
So hopefully more improvements to come this winter, my goal is to try and get the car as driver friendly as its ever been in anticipation for lots of road miles next year.
