Now that does look nice. Did you have to trim a lot off the Camaro tail peice?

The 72 Cuda Tail lights fit in perfectly, however the curve of the two panels were different. A bit of metal manipulation needs to be done, especially since the edge of the camaro panel curves outward but the face is flat. Hopefully the pictures can illustrate what im trying to say.

Nice job!

I love this tailight mod. A few others have done this as well. It is something that I would like to do to my 72. In fact now when i am out in the garage looking at the back of my Vega ....it looks weird. Gee Thanks ! LOL !!

Yes, the pictures show it perfectly. Thanks! Now just have to find the rear piece that I want to change things out. Will have to look at some different type cars and see what tickles my fancy.

So i got my rear end together and now i'm in the process of strengthening the rear control arm mounts as well as cleaning in preparation for the 9" . Its nice to have the car on a lift (friends place) and to see all the work i had done with the car a foot in the air (30 something lbs of undercoating removed with nothing but a scraper) is impressive. looking at how much money it would cost me to do a full subframe on the car, i'm going to settle for just boxing the lower control arm mounts and re-welding the upper mounts for now. Im also considering new rear control arms :bored: .

Lookin good and your moving right along. Are you going to beef up the control arm points. I did but Im running a manual
trans its almost mandatory.Ive seen the damage it can do when they tear off the body.(not good)

I've re-welded the upper body mounts and boxed the lower ones completely. This car is going to be strictly a street car until I tie the car together through the rocker panels, transmission mount and rear control arm mounts (like a giant box, but mostly hidden). I'm also going to be running a manual trans and i'm looking forward to this being my daily driver

Wow, surprised I haven't clicked in here before but awesome job! I'm a huge fan of the taillights since honestly, (shh, and don't tell anyone!), I've never been a huge fan of any of the Vega taillights, hence why I have an Astre!

LCA brackets looks great too! If you don't mind me asking, do you happen to have the prints for them, or DXF files of the flats? I was thinking of doing the same myself, but it looks like you beat me to it! Did you just have someone waterjet/plasma cut them, then you welded them up?

Thanks :D

I made the brackets on AutoCAD in 3D then broke it up into sides, and i can send them to you however you'd like, my favorite was printing it out from AutoCAD full size  . Took them to a welding shop and i had them made up and welded (im learning how to weld soon), ONLY thing was that i made the bracket 3 inches wide and it should have been 2 1/2 i think, depends on your control arm bushings, one of mine was 2 1/2" (bottom) and the other was 3" wide (top). ALSO today i had to hack up the backside where i added re-enforcement to allow proper travel of the control arm (this could be avoided by just not welding that part on, simple) . But yeah, send me your email or if theres someway for me to send them via h-body let me know! maybe you can use them to tinker with or even use.

For the record, im with you on the taillights....

Tomorrow i have to get a new U joint and cap my rear brakes so i can drive the car home (front brakes only). New tires are 215/60/15, hopefully these will fit on the front and i can put 235-245/60/15 in the back

The car is in the body shop getting some rust removed aswell as finishing up the tail panel. But for now I Ceramic Coated my Don Hardy Headers using VHT ceramic paint and clear! They look much better in person and will have to wait till after they are installed in the car to be cured.

Very nice job on the headers. I am considering doing this too.
