Postby stinkybutt » Sun Dec 12, 2010 8:31 pm

I've tried and due to my great computer skills no luck posting pics. Will someone let me e-mail to them, then you post here?
Thanks

The cae was built in 2000 and has 15,000 miles and over 500 runs at the track. The rear torque arm is from S&W racecars . It is for a 82 up F body. The lower arms and panhard bar are home made adjustable with poly bushings.Right now the car is filthy from sitting in the shop for a year. I sold the old 406 last April. Pretty simple set-up. 90-10 shocks,S-10 spindles,V6 Monza front springs chopped 2 coils. Rear has 50/50 shocks. THe car was running low 11's@116-118. Best 60' has been 1.42 on 235x60 M/T ET Street drag radials and a 11.06@119. This was with a 3.50 gear.Car weighs 2850. As the pics show full interior, heater, wipers.
I'll post more pics of the tranny crossmember and fuel system.

What exhaust manifolds you are using?
Does the air cleaner clear the hood? If not, how much lower would it have to be to clear?
Could I get pics looking down at the exhaust manifolds showing the flanges?

I had to cut the bracing out from under the middle of the hood in the center to clear the air breather. I assembled the air cleaner, carb and intake, then lifted the engine until it just touched. Then lowered the engine just slightly. I am using solid motor mounts. I have found that the hood is just touching the air breather at the front right side. This is due to the motor being offset so the driveshaft clears the torque arm. I'll try a 2 3/4" filter instead of the 3". I do have a drop base now. Somewhere I missed in my measuring. A Hood scoop is not an option. I want the stealth look. The motor is a 6.0 LS shortblock from a 2004 truck with dished pistons and an iron block. The heads are New LS3 with Comp beehive springs. I have custom head gaskets from Flat-Out , they are rubber coated copper 0.040" thick. The cam is a Comp hydraulic roller. .571/.573 lift,228/230 duration@0.050" and a lobe displacement of 112. The intake is a GM and I'm using an MSD control box for driving the coils. The carb is a home made 750 with annular boosters. The trans is the old turbo 350 with the Neal Chance Nitrous Ready 8" race, same as before. This converter pulls the motor down when put in gear. Very tight. Drives like a stock coverter. It better for $1200. I'm hoping the new motor can make 450 @ the wheels. Car Craft made 550 @ the flywheel with same combo. The old 406 made 380@ the wheels. So I'm hoping for mid-hi 10's.
The exhaust manifolds are from an LS truck, I had to cut the flanges off and make my own tapered pipes. We used stainless. I'll post pics tomorrow(Thanks Monzaaddict). I'll remove one manifold to take the pics. The manifolds are for this summer, as I don't have time to build headers. KC wants her sand car finished for May. We play on the atv's and soon the sand car over at Silver Lake Michigan.

I finished the exhaust to-day. I used the old tailpipes and three chamber flowmasters. I made new stronger hangers and stainless pipe from the manifolds back to the mufflers. I'm waiting for my pushrods then I can finish the engine. I had to move the rear coil on the driver side coil pack to clear the power brake booster. I need to make the fuel lines from the pump to the bypass regulater and to the carb. A few changes to the rad hoses and it will be start-up time. I can't wait to dyno the car.
