just a note, based on the mods that aleck did to his truck exhaust manifolds, it looks like the soon to be released hooker ls exhaust manifolds will work in an h body.

The hooker manifolds should fit pretty good. Very nice looking swap Aleck.

The hooker manifolds have 2 1/4" outlets and flange is the same as an 2010 camaro.

speedway motors has a similar set with 1 3/4" tubes and 3 1/2" outlet $449 as cast $549 polished

I'd like to see them on an engine. Looks like they would fit even better.

What do you mean..."soon to be released"? How do you got em? Or is that just a stock pic?
I have Trailblazer manifolds. Fit fine in engine bay, but point right at the floor to frame reinforcements. Gonna be a pain to get pipes by them, and clear the starter. Then putting the nuts on the flanges is gonna be no fun either, and tightening.
Can you tell us about the Hookers?
They look like a very good H body possibilty.

Stinkybut.
Man I hate typing that name.lol
Anyway, can you elaboate on exactly how you welded and what type metal you used when modifing your truck manifolds?
Looks like stainless?
My welder buddy seems a little sceptical of longevity. thinks they will crack at weld area pretty quick due to materials and thickness difference. When the get hot and cool at a different rate.

Anyone done these and ran them for a decent time(miles)?
I'm not real happy with the trail blzer ones(see above post).I'm contemplating picking up a cheap set of truck manifolds and experimenting
thanks

The guy that I work for has been welding for ever. He also was a welding teacher. We are certified to weld on airplanes. He knows his stuff. We preheated the cast iron with a torch to red then tig welded the stainless. I ran the car on our chassis dyno almost a whole day in the summer heat, plus raced a few days and they seem fine.
I might be selling them in the spring after I build the headers. I cut the ears off the turbo 350 to help for a better fit. They seem to work as the used 6.0 LQ4 dish piston shortblock made 420 rwhp thru an 8" converter and 9" Ford with 3.50 gear.

I remember someone in the forums at LS1tech.com used a similar setup for a twin turbo S10/Jimmy/cyclone or whatever.
He kept the manifold temp. over 250* and used stainless filler. He welded a pair of V-style clamps on and last I heard he hasn't had any trouble with them.
Some people have speculated that they are made of cast steel (as opposed to cast iron) but I've never been able to confirm one way or the other.

I got the pics off the web. here is a shot of the manifolds on hookers project car and a similar photo of the schwartz vega showing about where they will exit below the car.

these are cts-v sometimes referred to as lsa or ls6 manifolds but they are unique to the cts-v platform. The passenger side flange is turned outward slightly which might hit the fenderwell/frame on an hbody. There are companies that use these manifolds in v8 solstice swaps and they cut the one flange and reorientate the flange parallel to the engine centerline like the drivers side is.

Thank you Stinky.
I will keep this info, and pass it on to my welder buddy. He's a pretty good welder as well. I'm sure he can pull it off.

Yea, I seen that guy on LS1 tech. I think he rann truck manifolds up side down and welded turbo flanges on them.
My Welder buddy, told me that if you drill some where none important on the manifolds( like a heat sheild boss), that if it just makes dust, then its cast iron, if it makes shavings, its cast steel. sounds right????

Monzaddict.
Thats the prob with all the damn LS manifolds. they all turn out. The CTS ones look poss. What is that LS with the CTS manifolds sitting in? I only know VEGA, I assume its a Monza?
You can see how tite Jeff's is. He didnt want to cut his up too much. But, I plan on doing frame ties, prob just like Nic did. So at that point i beleive cutting that crap out of the way will be no biggie.
I'm liking the Hookers thou. I bet they will be $600 or more.

the photos are from hybridz.org so the car is a 240z or something similar.

another set of factory manifolds I am trying to find more info on are the hummer h3 with the lh8 5.3 (and possibly the colorado and canyon). These manifolds are unique to the h3 alpha and the only thing I can find on the web is a pic of the drivers side that shows the manifold tucked in tight. Compare the pic below of the alpha manifold and the generic truck manifold. There is also another pic of the ctsv manifold. I am hoping that these manifolds will fit directly or can be mixed and matched to cleanly fit an hbody. Note also all the late model manifolds delete the egr and air bosses for a cleaner look.

I did some more online research and found the part numbers for the h3t exhaust manifolds.

As For The Exhaust Manifolds, The Drivers Side For Some Reason They Offer 2 Ways. With Shield, bolts And Studs, Or Without.

Passenger Side Part# 12600527
Drivers Side (bare) #12598548
Drivers Side Complete #12614009
the part number for the bare manifold shows as good at gmpartsdirect
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm

The passenger side manifold is the standard trailblazer envoy part but the drivers side is unique to the h3t

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f213/humm ... an-308318/

http://www.gminsidenews.com/index.php?page=Engine_Guide

here is a pic of the lh8 h3 lh exhaust manifold. Not sure if it is any tighter against engine than the trailblzer manifold but the flange is reorientated possibly offering better frame clearance.

The hummer one looks a little better. hard to tell in pic. The trailblazer ones i have, the drivers side is acually the best one. the pass is the worst fit.
so if the hummer is same as trail blazer on right and only different on left i dont see as this is going to help us.
Just FYI. if you havnt seen them, I have some pretty decent pics in my journal of the T B manifolds in place in my 72.
Do Monza s have that piece going from the base of cowl(floor pan) to the frame rail?
I didnt know they did the v8 in the Colorado?
CAdilacs look best so far. can they be found? realistically priced?
Hell, when i was looking for my TB manifolds everyone wanted $250 to 300 bucks a set for em. Thats how i found my motor, just happened to ask y they had manifolds then they said they had whole motor.
for $600 more i scored the L33 complete with just 19k miles on it.

Yes they do. I am removing it and doing similar to what Nick did. Click here, bottom of page 8.
