Got this 73 a few months ago, i paid for it before i drove it and he still lied about the engine, but i had planned to use a 04 gto engine anyway. It had ralley wheels so i ask what rear it had, he said 10 bolt, so i'm thinking maybe a s10 rear, nope redrilled 7.5 axles. It had an old bell like in 50's cars with mounts on the side and a cast iron 3 speed. Half of the tunnel was cut out on drivers side and patched with flashing metal like you buy a home depot, and the hole where the heater WAS, had a big hole cut out below the gas pedal and a piece of heavy cloth riveted over the hole. It had an hydraulic clutch, the master is made to mount at an angle so he had to a 3/4" stack of fender wshers to mount it, you could depress the clutch 2" at most and barley released. Got some pictures if i can load them.
Car was a 4 speed, and putting a turbo 350 in, need to know if the crossmember is supposed to be right for the 350.

Its hard to know what you have.... this is a odd motor/bellhousing/tranny swap for a Vega.

Got a photo of the tranny crossmember?

We put the driveshaft in and it seems to be ok. The transmission is offset to the pass. side , so i guess i need to do some measuring to get the front of engine offset the same as the trans.

More pics please. Wheel/tire combo looks very similar to what my son's 71 Vega is going to have. Cool color too. Sounds like the Butcher that did your car is the same one that did my son's car. I'd love to see more pics, good luck with your project. Dave.

I switched sides with the engine adapters and moved the rubber mounts to the back, so i can make the mounts and come straight up.
It was 70's here last weekend and been in 30's and 40's all week, so i'm not getting anything done with it.
The paint isn't very old, but still has some dents and waves, maybe the mechanic on this car did the paint too.
