I have some other plans once the engine is installed to make sure that there will be cool air going to the engine...now that I got the outside done, its time for the underneath of the hood and the engine compartment finished.

Thanks Art.
Yes the vents and scoop are functional.
The hood scoop is going to be sealed off similar to the 69 427 Corvette...

HEY BB. YOU SAY SCOOPS ARE FROM 2014-14 MUSTANG. IS EACH VENT AN INDIVIDUAL PIECE THAT COULD BE BOUGHT FROM FORD OR AFTERMARKET.? ARE THOSE PARTS NEAR WINDSHIELD HOOD LOCKS(MAYBE FROM LATE 60S 442 OLDS HOOD. JUST LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THAT HOOD. ART

The vent come in pairs...I got them from BMC Extreme Customs Inc... there are other companies...I use just about to get them a little bit cheaper due to some damage, which I didn't mind since I molded them into the hood. Those are AeroCatch Plus Flush Hood Latchs.

thanks bb . i will look into those parts for my hood . just out of curiosity, are those vents real efficient at ridding engine compartment of heat. our members have done alot of testing using different areas of engine compartment to rid the compartment of heat and if i remember right, none of the ways were very effective.hopefully your louver method will not disrupt the flow of hot air through the radiator and right down under the engine and out of engine bay. it has been said letting air run in through hood scoop and not contained and directed right to carb could disrupt the airflow through radiator and out under engine. hopefully your louvers would not do the same. we have a big problem in cooling these cars, and hopefully your way will be a good method to cool, the engine compartment. what are your thoughts on this art

Fantastic build I wish I lived on the west coast to ck it out in person but I'm here in Michigan not far from Dick in Clawson. Wish I had gone with 15x8 like he did on his blue clone :o) Paul T.

Well, I am hoping for it to work, along with the heat, I was thinking of all the air pressure coming in and had nowhere to go...the engine compartment is somewhat small and has smooth fender wells and with the splitter in the front which covers from the air dam to the front axle the air need to get out some way. Now, this is my theory of thinking….My plans are to seal off the throttle body and air cleaner completely and just allowing cool air come in from the windshield…similar to the 69 Corvette with the big block…

Thanks Chris... I was hoping they would follow the contours of the hood which they do to some point...

hey bb any chance water will go right into carb or throttle body if you get caught out in the rain. that is what scares me about cowl induction functional hoods, or the old nascar trick of connecting air cleaner to top of firewall and cutting a hole to get air from front louvers below windshield . what is your take on that. i still thing your hood design is great . did you have to put inserts into that paticular hood to screw if to the hinges on front of vega . if so, could you explain how you did it thanks art

Hey Art.. thanks...
As far as the cowl intake I am not sure what I will be doing about the rain wate coming yet....

To tell you the truth Chris Wheaton built the hood and I am not sure what he did when he mounted the hinges...
