this was the first order it left Mesquite Texas today and will be here tomm. I figure the Vega deal going south was awesome. The grand I sent him from down south while I was there is going towards him painting the car. Cadillac White Diamond series white. The rest I had budget towards that purchase is buying everything I want for the Monza, plus the 4 shocks and all the front end bushings I ordered from Napa and O'riellys.

Does anyone run a cool can for street use? I am placing another order and when street temps being well over 100 degrees I am wondering how much it would help. I am ordering the complete radiator kit and Distrib today might as well get the can. Really going to clean up under the hood area.

Unless you have ready access to dry ice, the Cool Can is a waste of time and resources, and even then it's only worthwhile at the track, at least IMHO. Looks a lot nicer than the Moroso one I used back in the 70s though, 8)

BTW, that's the same distributor as i have in my V8 S10 daily driver/tow vehicle and my race Vega, :th:

Your getting a good distributor. I like mine, real accurate timing. Just an observation, but you might want to order a matching coil, unless you already have one. Keep the pics coming, and keep up the good work.
If it don't scare me, I don't want it.

I guess I never gave a background to this car when I first got here. SO there needs to be a history before there is a refresh. I had a 72 Datsun 240z i bought from a friend for 1200. I took that car and replaced every wire, hose, line, and fixed the brakes and drove it on 7 hour trips. I went to see my son at UTA when the Pokes were playing and he sent me a back way. WHAM! it gets plowed by 2 guys in a 4 door Lincoln, they back up and the front end falls of the car. They then yell "We are pulling over here!" , over here being leaving as fast as they could. The 240z is under the rear bumper of a full size truck and the back end of the car hits the ground after they pulled out from under it. I drove it 2 hours home after family shows up on a 2 hour drive there to make sure the car and I are ok. Son drives it to his place. Trip to the hospital shot of pain meds, and out. 3 hours later driving the 240Z home. Insurance gives me 6k for the car.

Griffens Classic Cars buys the car from an older guy that has found out he wasn't gonna be around long. He sold them 5 cars. The Monza had blown the 262. Even older guys than me hotrod cars. Everything happens for a reason. So he had a 350 installed and the car runs like hell with rusty gas running thru it. He sells it. There is a TON of paperwork from a new transmission install with all new clutch and pressure plate....car has 87K miles on it. It now has 101,650

I buy the Monza of CL from Griffens Classic cars. They had it for sale at one time for 5500, dropped it to 4500, I gave 3500. It was all original minus the 262. They had it started, it then wouldn't run well. I trailer her home and get it going, in 1 week it goes thru 3 fuel filters. I go to a buddys shop, on the lift and he installs the fuel pump after I drop the tank, flush it at the car was across the street, blow it out and we coat it with the proper stuff inside. At the end of the day it is driving and sounding great. While it was running like hell I had the guy that does all my exhaust install a 3" exhaust in to a 1 in 2 out. He did a great job and you can't see it.

I ditch the Cragers and buy a set of Rod-lites, wheels and tires. Started with Por-Stars bought a set and they wouldn't fit. The car has 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern all the way around. Drilled axles and Ford discs. So I take those back and get the Rod-lites. I replaced the wires, plugs, heater hoses, vacuum lines, fuel lines, Distrib. cap, installed an MSD 6al, Stereo, sub, amp, gauges, all from the money left over from the Datsun 240z.

Now I get another check from them and it is for a settlement from the wreck and I have no bills, credit cards ect. I try to buy the Vega wagon I posted....2 titles and guy selling legally owns the car, but I know the other guy as well. I politely back out. The guy that has the wagon also is a great paint and body guy. SO I tell him keep the 1K deposit from the vega he was giving me back when the Vega sells and put it to painting the car. Done all new deal, keep friends all the way around, AND my buddy is gonna paint the Monza.

So instead of getting all crazy about anything anymore.....I just go with whatever happens. Hence re-doing the Monza. I will post pics from when I got it on a trailer all the way thru to what I am doing.

Can't wait to get the top half of the engine done. Going to repaint all the black under the hood and paint some brackets, do the exhaust manifolds, new plug wires and looms, and do something about all the wiring that is here and there and all over the place.

Buddy came over Tuesday and Today and helped me hang the ceiling and insulation. We still have 2 more sections to do on the right side. Was 107 here today took ground temp with one of the infa-red gauges and ground was 126. Shop was 91 and then I moved the cooler to t he door to pull that air thru the pads...and it dropped to a nice 84. Used a lil John Deere and pulled the car into the shop backwards and then pushed it in place, hung a light and started to get after it. Had to straighten up the tools and get stuff ready and 2 ice chest. One with my gatoraide and monsters and one with a 6 pack for my cousin to come over and just shoot the shit while I got stuff ready and started tearing down the engine compartment for cleaning and painting ect. What is the best way to get the hood hinges free from hood? Grind thru the tack welds? Have to see how the fiberglass hood bolts on I ordered a bolt rear pin front. Only other choice was full pin and didn't want that. Removed radiator, shroud, alt., power steering pump, plugs and wires, ect. GOing to have to do some alterations for the radiator, but well done ones with nice welds. Which is why I have someone else doing the welding. :th:

Finishing the shop and doing the car at the same time. It is down anyway with the clutch issue.
