'77 Monza Mirage: Done in time for graduation!

Postby duckblaster67 » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:40 am

This is our (my son & I) 1st journal post. We have the original engine rebuilt (slightly modified) and finally in the car and running. We also have all the jams painted as well. Everything under the car has been pretty much gone through (checked or rebuilt), along with rewiring the engine compartment. I'm hoping these pics show up for all to see since I haven't posted any here before.

Looks a lot better than mine  I wish I could help with the front but I have only the one on mine no spare :? I see that you have lost the air conditioner on yours did it not come with air? If you need some small parts I might have them I am redoing my 77 Mirage from a 1/8 mile car that has a 400cid SB and PowerGlide with stock 7.5" 3:90 ratio rear now. I am changing to a 200R4 and a 9.5" with 3:50 ratio for the road. I do have the two rims on the back of my car for sale they are 4X4 and would fit but I only have two.

Yes, this was a 4spd A/C V8 car originally. A/C was long gone when my son got it. He has 2 sets of the slotted rims already. :)

Did you check with Marco about the airdam? He used to have the whole kit for sale.

Yes, I did... but it sounds like he wants to hang on to it. May be time for a "Hoarders" intervention?? lol  The car goes into the body shop on Monday and I'm in the process of making one that's close to the original from an IROC-Z chin spoiler. Wrong time of year to be working with fiberglass though! Looks good so far, and the fit is pretty nice. I'll post some pics of it soon. I have the fiberglass work done, just need to sand and fill the imperfections.

I have a Mirage that is in progress also. Thought I was going to have two air dams but I did wind up with a reproduction fiberglass one anyways. Very tough item to find. Good luck with making yours.

Now that I've applied the fiberglass resin, I just need to apply the body filler and sand it into shape!

Meanwhile the car is at the body shop this week and they've made some headway already!

And YES...the tail panel is from a Spyder, because the original was caved in (warped) on the right side corner! :? Still have it tho!
