1978 Pontiac Sunbird Coupe Build

Postby denton » Fri Mar 01, 2013 11:53 am

My three sons and I are planning to build my 1978 Sunbird coupe into a drag car. This car is my first car when I started driving many years ago. The car sat in my grandparent's barn for the past 20 years. When my grandmother passed away this past May. The property was sold so I had to do something with the car. We are a drag racing family. All of my boys (ages 13,17 and 19) started racing Jr. dragsters when they turned 8. My brother runs a Super Comp dragster. The boys first thoughts for my old car was to build a footbrake car so here we go. Plans are to install 4-link back-half, 9in rearend, 12pt cage, small block 383 and 2sp powerglide. I told the boys this would be a budget build. We have been buying good used parts as we find them and some new depending on what it is. I'll try to post pictures as we go throught he build.
