Mountin the engine would be a lot easier if I didn't have to make the v8 Monza plates or had something for example. All im goin by is pictures.

I got some V6 Buick frame plates and mounts (thanks 73vega5.3) that i adapted to work for sbc with minor work. The trans mount is the same except for i flipped the piece of angle backwards. A V8 is ready to bolt in. I cleaned and painted the engine. My next step is the oil pan. My cousin picked up some front springs, a steering column, and a dash pad. Im sure he'll chime in with more on that.

Has anyone ever tryed using the v6 Buick plates with a v8 Chevy before? I find that it sets the engine back far enough i should be able to use a long water pump and still have room for a mechanical fan. That wouldn't be possible unless the firewall wasn't already cut. The oil pan needs cut at least 3/4 inch up near the timing cover. I dont know if its safe to cut it there or if i should find a way to bring the motor mounts up an inch or so. Any input guys?

That part of the oil pan is getting close to the crankshaft. You would probably be better off raising the engine a bit.

That's what i was leaning towards. Any ideas on a simple way to do it?

The parts made it from Florida to Michigan and I got them in the car. Still in mock up phase. I was messing with the wires today. That wire harness is a mess. If I had the money a new harness would be the first thing i'd buy. Gotta love those low budget builds.

Last night i was working on getting rid of the spare tire carrier. It was cut out last year, as you could put a foot through it. What i am trying to do is make it flat across so it is even with the passenger side. I took out the center support bar, as it was rounded for the tire carrier. Does anyone know of an easy way to weld in a panel, or should i cut out the passenger side too and make my own section for the floor? How do i change the ignition switch? I got the column completely apart but i dont see a screw or anything holding it in. I got the switch out by hitting it with a hammer, but it looks as if a part of the switch broke in the column housing. Where do the wires run from the fuse box back to the tail lights? Do they go through the headliner, under the body, under the carpet, or what? They have the factory thick plastic loom thing on them.

Haven't made much progress the month since last post, i was working on 205 swap in my 85'. Engine and tranny mounts all set up. Need to replace wood blocks with steel then weld in and the mounts will be done. Found the tail light wires and hooked em' up. Got the intermediate shaft all made, awaiting welding. Made from 4 pieces.

The yellow one? Still got it. Couldn't use because the dipstick was on the wrong side. I changed the engine mounts and a stock pan will work now. Currently working on the rear floor. I cut it all the way out. Tire carrier was gone so i cut that out. Got rid of the brace. By that time it wasn't worth repairing since i had to cap the fuel pump hole.

Did you find another fuel tank? That one was modded for EFI for the 4.3 that was in there.
