"and the new one going in (although i am not sure which direction it gets installed.)"
The seal flap should point outward.

got the carb an fittings and ss tubing installed. not to hard to build, just god damn an stuff is $$$
Image

now to figure out what to do with the stock fuel line, the PO installed the blue fittings and i wanted to clean it up a bit. will need to figure out if the -4AN is enough to feed a 383 engine. as the carb stuff i did was -6AN 3/8"
I dont like the look of what the PO did :lol"

In order to properly feed that 383 you really should have a minimum of 3/8" or -6AN. The OEM fuel line is too small(5/16")l, and that interesting construction of -4AN fittings is really only 1/4".
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

so, missing two marker lights, and one other thats broke, so figured i would try to find something that would work and be LED. they are oh so close to working perfect. if they were just a smidge shorter it would fit in the hole. but it should work.

man, so much fun this weekend making parts
drained the 8+ year old fuel out of the gas tank.
had a nice amber color
Image

got a great hand workout trying to bend 3/8" stainless fuel line. i took the stock 1/4" one off and bend this up to match it. also flared the ends 37deg for some an fittings.
Image
also tried and kinda succeeded, kinda sorta  but trying to make the tubing fit coming out of the engine is a PITA. so many little bends to get it to not hit anything.
maybe i should just tow it to a muffler shop and have a custom one done
as i planed on just doing a straight shot to a set of glass packs and dump before the rear tire.
