We had one of those brake/shear/roller thingies at my last shop. We did WAY thicker than 20 ga and it didn't explode on us  it's on the 'once I have a bigger garage' list after the mill and the lathe....

If you're in Ontario I have a '77 hatch in slightly better shape you can have for cheap.

A little advice I'll share on the sheer/bender...I made a second handle so your working both sides of the tool...it helped BIG time! You can use one handle until you get the piece steady where you need it...get a bit of pressure going & then get ahold of the other handle...makes the cutting & bending MUCH easier. I've been able to cut/bend 18 ga. rather easily up to about 15" wide. Lorne

 funny you should say that, as i made a second handle for it as it seemed odd to only have one. made a big difference when bending.

got the shrinker/stretcher in the mail, thing is working quite well.
started making up the inside piece. got this one up. fits perfect.

punched holes in it for spot welds and welded it up.

little bit of elbow grease this is how it sits now.

ran into an issue where the new pan didnt fit. (didnt realize it was only for old blocks and not ones for the one piece rear seals. so this will need to go back to summit. guess i will have to cut the stock pan.

also got the alt and bracket installed.
Image

also picked up a firewall bulkhead for the wiring, as i liked how the oem one was split into two systems.

Love the alternator brackets. Where did you find those? Are you using the short water pump?
