Im finally back at my project....74 Vega Hatch BM Super Vega tribute. It took me more than a year to track down the needed parts to make this as period correct as I could. The car started out as a very rust free FL car sold new at a Holler Chevy In Winter Park FL.It was a 3 speed automatic A/C car with under 100K miles and Original paperwork included. For me it was a great base for what i had in mind as i wanted a V8 Vega when in high school. It is now close to paint now and will be arctic White with the Motion scheme in black. The nose will be a 71 one piece wrap around fiberglass(preference) ,original style hinged L88 hood, correct chin spoiler, correct deck spoiler and fiberglass hatch(preference) Power will be a 383 with turbo 350 all mounted with Hardy Mounts,Alston frame connectors, retro traction bars,s10 373 posi rear with hardy style mounts,s10 spindles,Gabriel air shocks, side pipes,Cragar mags and belted tires.I even have the fly eye air cleaner and old school cast weiand valve covers which have the cutout for the Motion badges and vintage Dixco gauges and Sun Tach.It is going to be fun driving this to cruises and local car shows and stir up the old memories of these V8 super cars.Thats what will make it worth it for me and everyone to enjoy.

Hey, a lot of that sounds familiar! :th:

Sounds like a fun project. I have an appreciation for the period correct stuff.

Good luck and keep the project pics coming.

Looking forward to updates on this project. Questions:

When you put (preference) does that mean the orginal was different?
Is there a list anywhere of the products that were used on a BM Vega?

Even in primer, you can tell this is going to be an excellent build.

Sorry Larry... been busy getting it ready...
Yes I preferred the fiberglass rear hatch-Motion never offered one for this build in that era.
But other people did sell them. Mine were made in the 70"s by Perfection Fiberglass which has long been out of business.
Yes Motion had many mail order ads to order what you wanted-just like optioning a car.
More project pics on the way
Thanks and getting excited to show off a piece of the Vegas History

Getting ready to paint base...the "pins" in the hatch jamb are for the polished 2 inch push button "quik latches" for the fiberglass rear lift off hatch-used 2 on the rear of the fiberglass L88 hood also-these are clean looking and do not require zeus tool or involve pins and cables. Will also use a Harwood Lexan hatch back window mounted in original position, so window moldings will still be used around the Lexan .

looks great. hard to stay at it when you do it all day and then have to work on own stuff at nite for sure.
really surprised how nice the hood appears to fit.
does it really fit as nice as it looks?
who makes that one?
I would like to have one, just hate the typical fiberglass fit and finish. I want nice street car stuff, not crappy gaps, bad fit race stuff. I don't want to spend big money and have to re engineer the whole thing.
Good looking project, stay on it

Fiber Concepts in PA made the hood( a lot of guys here like them too) but with all fiberglass there is always fitment issues.
And since I used a race weight wrap around nose and A hinged hood It ways 2 days to get it all fitting that good.
Thanks Darrell
