The next thing is the bumpers. I like the look of the deluxe bumper with the rub strips. I bought a set of used bumpers off ebay. They need refinished. I also got a reproduction front rub strip off ebay. The quality looks good and seems to fit well on a test fit. I am going to try and strip and polish a section of the bumper myself before I resort to sending them to be restored by a shop. On further inspection of the front bar, I found that 2 holes had been drilled for a license bracket that need to be fixed. I will need a pro to weld and polish them. Oh well, it's only money. I like to do as much as I can my self.

Hey Larry you could try and fix those holes yourself. there is a product called "Aladdin" rod that you can put on with a propane torch I would test on a scrap piece first. I have tried this and I am doing something wrong as I have had people try and show me with my own stuff and I guess I am a :dunce: as it just doesn't work for me But it does work. Good Luck and keep us posted! Harry http://www.aladdin3in1.com/products/solder/low-melt.php

I took the bumpers to a area plating company for an estimate. To strip repair and Chrome $1200.00  that is almost what I paid for the car! I asked him if there was another option. He said to strip repair polish and reanodize $925.00. then he said strip repair polish and clear gloss powdercoat $600.00. That was getting better but this is a LOW dollar process. He said for $40.00 he would strip the anodizing for me. I think I can polish them my self. and then we have a place here in town that powder coats. I may be able to get off cheaper. I will post pictures as I do the work. If it does not work I guess I can take it to them to get it polished in the end.

Photoshop of My paint idea for "SAFARI" package. factory 2 tone colors from 1978 Bonneville with red stripe. Should look good with the red interior.

I like the paint idea. Looks very well planned and deff fits the lines on the car. As far as the bumpers go I would do some shopping on a quote because that sounds outrageous to me. I mean chrome is spendy sometimes but that just seems way out of line. Just a thought but you might find out what shop does chrome for the "power block" TV show. I have personally helped them build a car and the chrome was nice and the guys spoke very highly of that shop. I'm sorry but I just can't remember the name but I'm sure a quick email to the producers or may even be listed on the website as a sponsor.
Keep up the good work. :thumb: :thumb:

I believe it's "Advanced Plating" out of Nashville. They do the show circuit hawking their wares, and their stuff looks good in person! Harry http://www.advancedplating.com/site/

Latest purchase, 13" snowflake wheels. I can't wait to get them refinished. We do business with TRANSWHEEL in huntington IN. They will rework them and paint the background color black for $85.00 each. They will look like new. Thanks John-corvairdog.

Dang, good looking project.
photoshop color design-illustration is awesome.

you cant beat silver and charcoal with red accent stripe.
( like 1979 trans am 10th anniversary colors )

where did you find your 205 60 13 tires ?
and what brand are they ?

very hard to find in solid white letter or any configuration.

ready to see your snowflakes on the car.
