W66 is the RPO for the Formula option package. So it meant the decal's and possibly some suspension enhancements. Anyone with the Pontiac literature on-hand could confirm.

Ok... well, I guess that's what I thought it was. I suppose it was the W-66 decals on the side of this car that threw me off. Not "all" Formulas have W-66 on the side, do they? I thought perhaps there was something 'extra' with a W-66 above and beyond a Formula. (kind of like a "Trans Am".. and a "WS6 Trans Am")

Ken, thanks for the kind comments.
The W-66 was suspension enhancements with a really beefy anit-sway bar in front and smaller in rear, padded custom wheel like a Trans Am but a couple inches smaller diameter, guage cluster, thicker carpeting, stripes and was only on the Formula Sport Hatch model. Different rims where used as well, choice of the "snow flakes" or steel 4 spoke mags. The W-66 decals where inspired by the Olds w-30 and 31 cars and was added by yours truly to bolster this nimble little car. as W-66 was meant for the "Sprint anti-ballistic" missile also named W-66 capable of a small nuclear war head and it's small agile size..(.google that part)since the V-8 was installed, the suspension became more usefull and "alive" as this engine sits forward more than a V-6 and actually makes this car handle completely better. The front sway bar is the same thickness as a large one on my full size Caprice "cop-car" so it works well. So along with some creature comforts and gauges/striping, the suspension is the real enhancement. We all wish they continued this practice but now it's in a model level that you must order in the new cars, LT/1,2 or 3 and LTZ and the choices are limited but you pay for the handling packages differently now. The Monza Spyder and Sunbirds etc. would be a minimal cost extra for enhancements so when you looked at the bottom line, it was only a few hundred bucks! I'll bet if people knew this, there would have been more packages ordered.

1974 was the last year GM used Muncie 4 speeds so even with the M20(wide ratio) option it would not have been a Muncie.

Hi Chevyart,
it is a March bracket and as Fred indicated, his is on the driver's side and mine was for the passenger side. They are 2 different part no's but they have a site on the Net and manufacture awesome alloy components and are located in Florida. Check out their webpage, it is amazing quality stuff and will take telephone calls for questions, a super friendly company and top notch! Thanks Freddo! :th: If I make the trip to Monza-Que from Alberta, maybe you could and bring the "little-ones" (models)
