I'd like to run the autocross Saturday but I know what that will do to me and my plans for this car. I shouldn't go down that road.
I'm trying to not get into "project mode" with this car.... and turn it into a project rather than a driver. The trans swap was needed (and I had all the parts lying around) to get back to some decent mileage. It gets 15.5 mpg with the auto..... apparently it needs some carb tuning, too.
There may be some eventual upgrades along the way, from the white '73 wagon project that has died:
Overkill front control arms
Manual 4-wheel disc brakes (4th gen Camaro)
5-lug conversion (S-10 spindles)
16" IROC wheels
3.42 LSD
Potential engine swap is stroking one of my Buick 215s with a 300 crank to get 260 cubic inches.
But I digress. ....... driver, not project.

An object in motion will remain in motion..........
Not 200 yards from his house, on the first curve, the trans broke though the side rail of the hitch haul rack and bounced down the road, hitting the curb several times before coming to a rest, almost under the Jeep. Some pieces are still missing......

all stock suspension!
I am trying to get the blue car in some sort of condition to autocross instead of drag race. Long journey!
Maybe I will see you there, I was hoping to be the only Vega but when I saw you putting this 5 speed in I began to wonder....

How about some 13" R-compounds? cut Cosworth springs, poly swaybar bushings, 4-wheel disc bra..... oh no.... not again.
It's a driver, for Pete's sake, not a project!!! IT'S A DRIVER!
