I grabbed the calipers and brackets from one of those 4x4 rear ends at the junkyard; I'm going to try and adapt them to a 1977 7.5" rear end. Hopefully they will fit with the proper 2wd rotors.

Disc brakes would be awesome, but from what I've read you need to modify the wheel well? Hope it works out.

Before you start welding, you should know that a common modification is to raise the upper control mount on the rear end. Basically like the old "no-hop" bars that used to be available. Changes the geometry of the 4-link to provide better bite.

Oh ya Spence I plan doing the UCA mod on this rear end great point!! I'm still undecided on the amount I should raise them Ive read of guys having success with as little as 1.5 inches all the way up to 3.5 inches so I am working on a bracket that has multi holes up to 3 inches above the original location.
Thanks for the advice I welcome any and all advice and help I can get with this old Vega!

Can I ask why are you changing the rear end on this car? I thought it had a 4 cylinder engine, from what most guys do is just add the monza vented discs up front and it is a bug improvement, unless I missed something.

Al,I do have the 4 banger in it still but I plan on swapping a V8 into the car in the future so that is partly the reason for the rear end swap the other is the fact that 4 on 4" wheels are nearly impossible to find let alone any decent 13" tires. So the reasoning is better brakes, 5 bolt wheel options, stronger rear end for the increase in power and well ... EVERYBODY'S DOING IT!!!

Thumbs up on the idea of making the UCA brackets adjustable. Suspension tunability is great to have.

Well I figured.. If I need to fab up some brackets so why not add a few extra holes. So this hole thing got me thinking.. and what I'm pondering is the location of the adjustable UCA holes. Do they follow the arc of the control arm from a fixed position keeping the pinion angle stationary? Or do they push the pinion angle up or downward ? hope this makes sense. I did get the lower brackets cut out and tacked up but this put me at a stand still. Thanks for checking it out!!

Jess I would think that your uppers should follow the arc as pinion angle shouldn't change to affect the change the re-locate is trying to fix, as keeping it the same will reduce the chances of driveline vibration. I like your rear end fixture. Simple[ish]? Yes! Effective design? I sure think so. Harry

Usually the upper 4 link holes are in an arc on the chassis and rear end brackets. That's the way they are on the Competition Engineering ones in my drag car.

Nice Stuff. You should make em and sell em. Or at least. Sell the templates.
Takes a lot of time to do that stuff.
Looking good
