ignition switch questions

Postby shoebox1.1 » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:41 am

ok... im almost done with me electrical gremlins. the last and final piece of the puzzle is the ignition switch.
i am not getting power from the purple/white coming out of the ignition switch.
ive isolated the fault to the switch/key/column. at no point is there any continuity from any pins of the ignition switch to the purple white outgoing wire. if i jump a B+ to it the car cranks. anyone know where i can see how the column goes together or pics? ive never had a GM column apart. my friend did something to the tilt joint. im betting he didnt do somthing right. anyone have a non tilt column and steering wheel for sale? lol black is perferred! :D

Never heard of adjusting an ignition switch, would you elaborate?

There's slotted holes on the ignition switch where it mounts to the top of the steering column; if it's slid down too far the rod coming from the key can't push it far enough to reach the "crank" position.
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....
