~ Glad I went back and re-read this thread before I button up the dash cluster carrier. I was assuming the volt meter was a drop in replacement, I must revisit my work...again.

~ That explains why my volt gauge is not responding. So I have treated it like a drop in replacement. The volt gauge for the amp gauge. I can get 12v for the gauge elseware I suppose and cap off the two wires formerly running to the amp gauge?

If the car runs and the alternator charges properly with the 2-pin plug from the former ammeter unplugged, then just tape it over so it can't short out. One or both wires would be unfused, unswitched 12v+.
Your new voltmeter requires an ignition switched 12v and ground to operate.
