The red at the headlight switch is indeed unswitched 12+, but there also is a couple more. There should be an orange at the headlight switch(park light supply), an orange at the back of the clock, and another at the lighter. How much current capability you need will determine which one you use; the red is basically unprotected except for the main fusable link at the starter, and the orange is through the clock/lighter fuse. If you need a large amount of current I would suggest going directly to the battery.
