Tach mod experience

Not sure if anyone else ran into this result after using the tach mod magazine article. I followed the instructions and my tach read wrong. If I recall it was reading low so I did some experimenting with different values of caps
I ended up using a 2.2 uf polarized generic capacitor. I compared the reading against a decent quality aftermarket tach and it came out pretty close. About 100-150 rpms off. This is putting the 2.2 In series with the existing stock silver one on the board. I did it all while the PCB was on the tach and with needle nose pliers it was no problem. There’s lots of room to tuck the extra part up behind the gauge
