Today went to work on mounting/cutting everything for the firewall. Turns out that after doing some research i need a 6:1 ratio with my clutch master and with a pedal 12" long i need the mounting point to be 2" down which is in fact where the original hole was for mine! PERFECT! 8)

I then mounted the clutch master close to brake master with just enough room for lines so that i could use the factory pedal position and cut my opening for the fuse box (if everything works right i should have JUST enough room on the inside).

Either later tonight or tomorrow i will be adding more support to the interior side of the firewall.

Im really "PUMPED" about this!

I thought it looked really good, until seeing the pic from inside, now I am a little concerned about the firewall flexing too much around the clutch m/c. I am going to make a patch out of 1/8" or maybe even 3/16" plate steel that goes behind the brake m/c (on the outside of firewall) and extending over to the clutch m/c.

Yeah i was going to do that tonight, but im exhausted from a long week of early morning/late nights. Going to get that done tomorrow hopefully! However my plan is to double up the steel and "sandwich" the firewall for added strength, i've made the plate and just have to trim it to fit now.

Fixed everything up today used the other plate and put the old one on the inside. Really solid! Much happier with the turn out. Also you cant see but i added a whole bunch of rivets to the bottom half of the plate, but i put the fuse box on before i took pictures

Right, hydraulic clutch, dummy. Nevermind. LOL. I apparently need to stop reading and replying posts at early morning times… wait. Shit it's 4am!

I think I'll use your idea when I get to hydraulic clutch. Thanks for the journal.

I just hope everything works out, last thing i need is clutch/brake/electrical problems. Also make sure when your cutting the hole for the fuse box that there is enough room to plug it in on both sides, I lucked out and it wound up fitting perfectly (assuming its currently contacting on both ends  )

But regardless I am glad that i can contribute to your build in some way! I have been following religiously and I hope everything is going a bit better in the dyno room. :th:

Engine compartment fully painted, engine being test fit. I need short water pump/pulleys and the oil pan needs to be modified slightly but not much. Extremely excited.... ZZZzzzzz... and tired, these early morning and late nights are killer. Not to mention all the homework i have haha

Now you got me excited :th: getting ready to fit engine also. It looks great, love the air cleaner, and man its amazing how some cleaning and paint can make that much difference. Looking great, keep up the good work!

Your telling me! All summer I spent over 200 hours working to get the rust taken care of when all it took was 5 minutes of gravel guard at the end to notice a change... part of the fun!

Been very busy, brakes are done and all wheels stop! Just need to wait overnight/a few days and see if it will leak! it was hellish bleeding them but we got a solution the second time round (re-rout the outlets into the reservoir) and i had 3 leaky fittings.

Also used these cool nickel copper lines that you bend by hand (very convenient) and got a special made fitting to convert my hydraulic line to a brake line.

Cut and got my Oil pan welded, welded in silver for a better seal and i coated the welds in a two part composite sealer guaranteed to last! Paint will come soon then i can test firt the motor again.

The wheels are fitting better and better the more weight i get on those new springs! Cant wait to get the V8 in place and interior back in.

For the battery tray i relocated the battery itself to the spare tire area and the body guy i worked with just patched up the front. However i did end up rushing the seam-sealer and paint in that area and i don't like the way it turned out :bang: But luckily the hood opens in the opposite direction so its going to be less noticeable, if anyone say anything ill tell them to look again and ill just give them a kick

Thanks for replying,, I have the same problem up front with mine,, funny you should say that about the hood opening and not seeing it,, I didn't notice it (rust repair that was made) until I took my hood off to remove my 4 banger
hopefully the sight of the ls1 will keep the eyes of the repair? or I could just leave a hole there for the hot air to get out of the engine compartment?? or maaayyybe mount a turbo there to hide the ugly    .
