Update. I don't have any pics yet but I just finished putting a a plate nitrous system. This should get me in the 10's in full street trim. Also, my header repair is done and came out ok, not as nice as I would like but it will do. $60 in J and U bends is better than $600 for new headers. I'm also working on a fiberglass cowl hood I picked up cheap awhile back from a member. Unfortunately the fit is horrible, the hinges need ALOT of work to get them to work with the hood.

No idea. After hours of working with it I finally got it fitting ok. It will do for now.

Hey speedphreake, I'm planing on copying your frame connectors and lower control arm boxed section, but out of miss judgement I dropped off the car an hour away at the shop and forgot to measure the length of the 1 1/2" x 2" boxed steel section (for the lower control arm mounts) needed as well as the 1 3/4 (or 1 1/2") tubing needed to run the length of the car and Im supposed to buy the steel tomorrow  ... i know right, i was wondering if you knew off hand or maybe you could measure the length of each piece, any information would be appreciated

Thanks
James

Are you putting in the 2x3 crossmemeber too? I've got that running from rocker to rocker. The rear of the frame connectors and the front of the control arm mounts are tied to this. That will effect how they are installed. I'll take measurements in a few minutes and let you know.

Yeah thats what im planning, i really appreciate the help/i called my buddy and he said that he had some ideas so it would be great to do a comparison and maybe do a hybrid version of your frame connectors and crossmember. I have to say my favorite car on the h-body forum is definetly yours even though we have some amazing rides on this site, so you better watch it im coming after you

Got side tracked working on the car fixing an axle leak, broken wheel stud and valvetrain issues.

The frame connectors are about 64" long. I used 1 3/4" round tube, but 1 1/2" would tuck up out of sight better.

The control arm mounts are 10 1/2" long. Hope this all helps.

After looking at the car today on a lift, I was wondering if the floorboards are different on a 75 vega versus a 71-73, i see no way in getting the pipe to run a long straight. And after much talking with the welder we've decided to box the rear lower control arms, weld the rear uppers up and then down the road try adding more strength to the body. I just cant afford it all in one shot, so getting my ford 9" up there will have to do for now!

Thanks for your help

Fuel filler is in the stock location behind the liscence plate. Obviously I had to modify the trunk floor and gas tank mounts, but it fit perfectly. The only mod to the tank was making the filler neck about 1" shorter. The tank is also much bigger than a stock Vega tank so I can drive it more with less fillups.

Little update. I rebuilt the motor this spring, got it back together just in time to make a nastalgia race in may. Last pass of the day the trans let go. The car was put away for almost 4 months waiting to get the trans back together and in the car. Made it just in time to make another nastalgia race. The car ran great all day. It made its faster pass ever in the finals for the win, 10.81 @ 123. Not bad for a little stock suspension street car I drove to work all week before the race, 40 miles each way. Maybe next month I can turn the bottle on and see what really happens.

What are you using for subframe connectors?
It appears that the body is twisting, is that a normal thing?
I see some cars where the front wheels lift together at the same level.
These are questions from a person that admitingly doesn't know didly about suspension tricks for drag racing.
