Did a few upgrades to the Vega over the last few weeks to address 2 concerns.... 1. Charging. Due to the serious lack of space the car had a tiny alternator on it, which also meant lower charging capacity. Fabbed a custom billet aluminum bracket and was able to mount a 140 amp Powermaster alternator in reverse (with the back of the alternator facing the radiator). It looks very cool and now the car is charging at a full 14.2 volts! Also ran a 2 gauge wire to power it. The old alternator charged right at 12 volts and when the lights were on, it would drop to 10.5 volts, so this extra voltage allowed me to address concern #2.

2. the engine temp would steadily creep up in traffic to 210 -215 degree which concerned me (even though multiple people said it was fine). I put a Maziere 55gpm electric water pump on (since I have the voltage to run it). Aside from looking great, so far it seems to be doing great. I haven't had a long drive yet but in the short cruise she went on Saturday evening, she never went over 185 degrees. Hoping this will be a big help in stop and go traffic. While it was down, had the opportunity to polish up some of the hard to reach aluminum. Also added stainless steel radiator hoses to make it look better and prevent a rubber hose sucking closed....

I like the "out of the box thinking" on the mount - nice work. :th:

Those Delco CS130 alternators are perfect for our hotrods with their high idle speed output.
