I also have hated buying hole saws because I figure I'll never use them again, but of the dozen or so hole saws I have only one was used just once. That one was used to cut a new hole for a toilet so probably doesn't count in our world.

Ken

So I ordered a hole saw and a 1.5" freeze plug. I ordered a 2 1/16" hole saw on the advice of another Vega enthusiast. However, it was too small. 2 1/16" is the exact diameter of the balljoint sleeve. That would work well if I wanted to butt the sleeve up to the bottom of the lower control arm and weld it underneath. That is not what I was shooting for. I would recommend a bigger hole saw, but what size exactly I don't know.

I ended up dremmeling/ filing so much away that using the hole saw was basically a waste of money. Maybe we can see what everyone who used this method had success with and dial it in for the next reader. Which way did you install the sleeve and what size hole saw did you use?

In other news, The Vega got an updated sound system. Bluetooth radio with hands free calling capabilities and a custom bracket to hold some Kicker full range speakers in the stock dash location. I also took a stab at sorting out the pesky windshield antenna and coming up with a replacement that doesn't involve replacing the windshield. Check out the Video. Also, If you could do me a favor and smash those Subscribe and like buttons, I'd appreciate it. Sharing doesn't hurt either.

It might have been me, a 2 1/16" hole saw will make a hole just under the sleeve ID of 2.090" whch not allow the shoulder of the ball joint to pass through the lower control arm should the weld fail.
Polish the hole to 2.090" press the S10 ball joint into the control arm, then press the 1/2" tall sleeve over the ball joint.
Tack weld the sleeve every 90 degrees then remove the ball joint and finish welding.
After welding clean up and paint the control arms, then press the ball joints in and install the grease boots and Zerks.
This can be done without removing the control arms from the car.
Even with the control arms off of the car welding the bottom side the sleeve is more diffacult because half the sleeve is shrouded by the outer lip of the control arm.

Some of you might have had this happen to you. I know I have been left stranded by a faulty fuel gauge. So I dug deep into this issue and did what I do, Make a video. Check it out!!

I don't think I ever posted the video about the brake master cylinder here. So, here it is.

I upgraded the S10 Blazer axle in my Vega to make it more "user friendly."

Too cool I didn't know you could do that to a gov lock but it makes perfect sense! I like that you do not shy from driving the car hard, time to move the rad forward and install a ford taurus fan for the ultimate cooling solution!

I'm working through the cooling system but I am coming at it a little different. There will be a video. I did not move the radiator forward.

Well, after a lot of work and swearing it's done. I have swapped out the Vega's front Brakes for 2002 Blazer brakes. It is awesome. Video link Below.
