Anouther Distraction from working on my Astre

Postby cammerjeff » Fri May 29, 2020 9:28 am

Just what I needed another Sports car, but a friend on mine had to sell his Brazen Orange 2009 Solstice Coupe due to his wife becoming Pregnant during the Lock in, who would have guessed that could happen! He now needs to be able to put a child seat and all the related Children equipment and Supplies so one of the Solstice's had to go. It is not a Turbo, so not a fast car, but it does have A/C, and the optional Folding soft top so you can actually stow it in the car. It is also a 5-speed manual. Could not pass it up for the price he asked. It does have 82,000 miles on it, and it has had the engine replaced due to a timing chain failure last year. So it is the perfect candidate for a LS swap in the future as it is already non numbers matching!
It has some upgrades, Solo Header, Cat, & Exhaust, nice sound, not to tinny or loud. K/N Intake, and a tune for the new parts, so around 200 HP up from the stock 173HP. Enough for now as it gets 30+MPG.

Yes they do Dick. It was explained to me to get the Coupe into production they could not afford to recrash test them, so they had to be considered a "Convertible" so that is why they are Targa roofed.

Nice ride. I see them from time to time. Those cars have an interesting history. Didn't Daihatsu build them at one time for GM?

Check out Norms Fiberglass for some really neat aftermarket body pieces for the Solstice. I have some of his stuff on my Sky Redline.

No every Solstice, Sky, Opel GT, & Daewoo G2X were built in the GM Delaware Plant. There may or may not of been made in Spain for a short time after 2010. I forget the name of the company or the car they sold.

Jeff,
I don't mean to hi-jack, but I have followed your posts on this forum for years.
I was and still am jealous of your Mallet.

I recently got me a distraction from my V8 Vega.
It's an '06, 5 speed manual, not many options.
It has been very well taken care of, and I am enjoying the heck out of it.

No problem Jon, congrates on the 06! they are fun cars to drive, the worst things they seem to say about them is the lack of cargo space, & the plastic dash, both things I could care less about on a Fun 2-seater. Miles per smiles really can't be beat with them for the $$$ they sell for at the moment.

I have been enjoying the 30 MPG the coupe gets. I will have to get the Mallet out for a run this weekend.

If you make it to Michigan we should get together. The Solstice/Sky National meet is going to be near Traverse City next June. You should try to make it!
