Astre Formula Steering Wheel

Does anybody know if the Astre Formula steering wheel is the same as the Trans Am wheel ? I’ve looked at photos and they look the same, but I can’t tell if the diameter, depth and mounting pattern are the same. Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes they are the same wheel with the exception of the center hub emblem

Thanks, Jeff. Do you know what hub is required (i.e. stock h body hub, Trans Am hub, or some special hub) ?

They se the standard Firebird Hub (I think the early 70's GTO's and Lemans also use the same hub) and horn contacts as the Trans Am or Firebird. My 1st Astre Formula came with a very sun damaged original wheel.

On more thing to consider is they only put Formula Steering Wheels on Astre's & Sunbird's that have a tilt Column. I don't know if the hub will fit on a standard non tilt H-body column. All Formulas either Astre or Sunbird's were required to have power steering & a Tilt Column to be equipped with a Formula Steering wheel. Just FYI.

Thank you very much for the information. I don’t have a formula, but always really liked the wheel. I do have a tilt column to go in at the same time, so that may work in my favor. My only potential problem is that I don’t have power steering, so we’ll see if that’s an issue. Thanks again for the responses. I knew one of the h body experts would know the answers.
