Disappointment in the San Fernando Valley

Postby TTait » Sun Oct 03, 2021 10:25 pm

I was looking forward to the Chevrolet Car show in Chatsworth earlier today. I was hoping to see more than a few H bodies on display.

One owner did bring a 76 Vega with an LS swap - but that was the only car there, at least by 1pm.

I had deemed my car not worthy, but maybe I'll have to take it next year as an example of an unrestored survivor, just to add to the H body presence.

Is the Vega owner here?

Are there really no more H-bodies in Southern California - the car capital of the world? Are we really going to let Michigan and Ontario show us up? Are there other local shows I should be thinking of instead?

Don't be too disappointed about not seeing other H bodies at a show. It is pretty much normal, I do a lot of shows.cruises and I am pretty much the only one. Just did a cruise with about 2000 cars and only saw one Vega besides my Monza.

~ That's all I look for at car shows is H-bodies and get dissapointed regularly. I have also not seen any super-charged Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6's at shows.

Ya,
I haven't seen one at a car shoe/cruise in over five years. None on the street either in a long time. Consequently, I have seen several Ford Pintos here and there.

I put my turd into storage last week and in this tiny little spot [room for about 8-10 cars there was another H-Body, a 1980 Sunbird [way nicer looking/shape than mine]I grabbed a pic but he had his car cover on already I'll try and get him to take pic with both of our cars there, next time he has the cover off of his. I'll post them up later. Harry

yep,
Great photo! Back in the day I lived in San Francisco for a few years. The Summer wind was even cool in the morning. Dasheil Hammett once said " The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco".

BTW, those Bumperettes for some reason really look killer on the front bumper. I can't
tell you how many of those things I threw away. Now, I wish I had a set.
