Control arms issues AJE SUSPENSION

Postby monzaz » Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:34 pm

HaS ANYONE EVER PUT THE AJE Suspension lower and upper tubular control arms?

Had a few concerns with the lower none adjustable. The spring pocket was too large in diameter and the step was going the wrong way as the spiral of the spring???

Anyone else notice this? Issues?

Had to cut some of the spring to make the car sit right. The Steering box was a whole other pain...LOL. Had to make that notch on the input shaft to fit the original steering splines sleeve.
Anyway it is all in there and was pretty happy with the lower stance.

I welded steel stock in the pocket to make the spring pocket the correct size. Simple and hokey ....But got the job done.
Same with cutting a coil off the spring. There are not any companies that sell the correct tension springs for the monza.
v8, v6, 4 cylinder etc all the same spring....lol... figures

So the AJE pocket for the spring is also not as DEEP as the factory spring pocket either. Which was a height problem again....Reason for cutting spring. I had those springs in and out about 4-5 times...LOL. cut ...remove cut again...etc. :) Jim

Global West guy says that 1" cut is worth 2" height in most cases on GM cars.

It really did come close to that...BUT I really wanted to be sure I did not cut too much off and was worried about the trust factor on that idea.... Jim

narrowed rear another 1.5" on each side Now we can fit the 10" rims and 10" slicks rear lowered another notch in the coil over tower. I think we are happy with the stance even more. Tires are tucked more too.
