Fabricating new V8 mounts

Postby MB77Monza » Thu Oct 04, 2007 4:51 pm

Man I may regret this. I just talked to my neighbor at work. He is well versed at metal fabrication, He races modifieds at tracks in western PA. I explained our predicament with mounts. He may be interested in doing them on a as needed basis, especially over the winter when he has more time.

What he would need is a good set of the doglegs to make a jig from. These would be returned when the jig is done. Anyone got a set to loan?

There has been some noise about whether or not Bob has patented his mounts. Someone here, who can speak up if he wants, did a search and found nothing, so maybe he hasn't patented them.

However, just to be safe, I'd recommend making an original design based on the factory mounts.

You can also take a look at these plans by Thomas Englund. His site is
http://norra37.com/photos/monza/renover ... mounts.htm
but I'm posting a PDF version here for archival purposes.

Not necessarily Bob's but they would work fine for making the jig. I was thinking stock ones and using the blue prints on this site to make the necessary modificaions.

i actually burnt the rubber out of my old mounts and they were "dished" not "humped ",all i had to do was drill a hole in them to fit the new 1 bolt mount to :)
sometimes its just to easy for words !
mostly with a h body its not though :(
