Aluminum Rim Lugnut Question

Postby Biscayne John » Thu Jan 02, 2014 9:55 pm

Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year!!!!

I have question that I hope you can help me with. I picked up a very nice set of the 10 hole factory aluminum rims for my Monza.(I still need to locate one more center cap) I found a set of used tires, nice BF Goodrich raised white letter. I was looking at a 75 sales brochure and the artist depicts the lugnuts on the rims to appear very similar to the ones used on the Cosworth rims with a black center. Were the factory lugnuts the same? If not does anybody have the Chevrolet/GM part number for the correct ones? Lastly does anybody have any for sale? Or a photgraph of the correct ones?
Thanks

GM made 2 different 10-hole rims. The early rims used the Cosworth lug nuts and the later rims used lug nuts from certain corvettes and camaros. The best way to tell if you have an early or late rim is to see if a dime will pass thru the lug hole. If it goes thru it is a late rim and requires lug nut part #371674. If it won't go thru it is an early rim and requires the Cosworth lug nuts part #329383. Both lug nuts are sold on ebay. Both rims use the same center cap part #349091.

Ron,
Thank-you so much! The car is down in Florida, and I am trying to get everything lined up for the next "hit" and hope to get it on the road!!!!! I am not going to know which ones I will need until I get there and see them in person

The same situation applies to the Cosworth, '75 rims use the black center nuts and '76 wheels use the all chrome ones. The dime trick gives you the answer about which you have.

I guess I have some home work to do, I bought my wheels 25 or so years ago and ordered the nuts for my car near the same time, I didn't know there were two styles. I hope my parts match up (never put them on the car, someone ran into it first so I just stock piled the parts for "SOMEDAY") I can feel the negativity coming. Just to give you guys an update. I bought the rims from a guy here on the site in April, Cos1776. By the way the rims were in stunning condition! I contacted him last night and he confirmed they were the later style rims and directed me to some lugnuts on e-bay which I had just bought.

Thanks again
