1977 Astre 2.5l Duke what flywheel flange ???

Postby joseph lamb » Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:43 am

Have been asking about what standard shift flywheel will fit my 1977 ASTRE 2.5l duke motor , and got alot of looks but no answers .

I still have some components of my 1969 Nova 153 cylinder motor , and I dug out the original crank shaft finally . I bought this Nova in 1978 with the 153 and torque drive tranny . Tuned it well and it got 32 MPG on the highway .

So if anyone ever has the need , I can tell you without any doubt that the Bolt Pattern on the 1977 2.5l IRON DUKE is IDENTICAL to the 1969 Nova 153 Crankshaft .You can take that to the bank .

So I will be putting on a 10.4 clutch and a 153 tooth ring gear standard flywheel off a small block chevy with internal balance .Hooking to a 1986 T5 tranny .

I will also try a 250 6 cylinder front balancer .

Mostly 230/250 Chevy Inline Six parts should fit the 77-78 Pontiac 151 motor because its mainly the same design as the 153.

79-83 RWD 151 no...( Pontiac, Jeep, AMC )

Most 80-90's 151 & Tech 4 FWD and RWD no.

Pulled out my 151 about that time and swapped in the Cadillac and a Turbo 350 to compete in Az. Gave all my parts to Tom ( the other 151 guy )

No problemo, I still remember most of what I did to mine, but most of the parts are dried up now. :( Some other member a couple of months ago asked also , but when I looked all the speed parts they were gone...
