Flowtech Headers

Postby watpress » Fri Mar 06, 2015 11:32 pm

Anybody use the Flowtech 11108FLT header on their V8 Monza? Both Summit Racing and Flowtech claim they will work. If not Flowtech what else will fit that's reasonably priced?

Looking at the 39 pages of cars these fit I would be very surprised if they fit. Most headers are very vehicle specific, especially ones for a H body. Even the ones specifically designed for our cars barely fit, hard to believe ones that fit a multitude of cars would work.
Edit: I see they do list Monza on their chart....So i don't know, look like standard shorty headers but they still have to fit the chassis.....maybe they will fit?

Looking at the Summit website it does not list a Monza V8 under Flowtech headers.
Painted Sanderson headers are $245 shipped on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/271014521043?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

If you actually go to the Holley website and plunk in a 1979 Chev Monza, these same headers come up (Part# 11108FLT) as well as Hooker Part# 2135HKR. The shorties are so much cheaper at $144.95 than the long tube Hooker headers.

How do the Sanderson's fit? Are they just a bolt on or is some modification required?

For general interest this is the reply I got from Holley/Flowtech. Kind of a big oops if you ask me, because ebay sellers are also listing them as fitting.

Hello

Thanks for contacting Holley Performance Products. I don''t have 11108flt listed as fitting a 1979 Monza. For some reason our website recommends them but that is incorrect and it will be fixed. I do show Hooker 2135hkr headers fitting a 1979 Monza with a factory V8. They will require slight modifications to the chassis in order for them to fit. 2135hkr is $586.95 and ceramic coated 2135-1hkr $833.95 with free shipping .

Summit's website is horrible for these cars with both the headers and the oilpan's I wasn't totally sure but it seems a bunch of the headers they listed wouldnt work. I looked up oilpans not to long ago on there and they gave me like 50 that would supposedly fit our cars, I actually e mailed them and told them that i could tell some wouldnt fit just by looking at the pic they showed.

This has been a problem for as long as I remember; the aftermarket part manufacturers conveniently forget that H-body cars even exist. They make parts(like headers and oil pans) that supposedly fit "all SBC applications", and the the big parts retailers like Summit don't know the difference and their vehicle look-up system leads one to believe they might fit. Other than the mega-$$$$ Hooker Headers, there's very little out there that will fit with no modification on a V8 H-body with OEM motor mounts.

Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....
