'Traditional' muscle cars are everywhere, your's is a rare and unique piece of history. Don't let the other ones get to you, that Astre is going to attract crowds for years.

Hey Jeff What they said! The investment is in your enjoyment. I just came in from work and I passed a motel parking lot on my way home and spotted a'74ish (europian) capri so I stopped and talked with the new owner, he was so happy to have a car from his youth .That will be you in a couple of weeks when you finish assembly of your baby! Never mind these sheepeople, Your car has personality and will attract a constant crowd everywhere it goes! Harry

Well yesterday was finally the day that the Astre came back home!!!!! The body work and Paint are exellent!!!! The decals look great, but some of the Vinyl stripes need some work, as they were over a year old when installed. But that will have to be adressed at a later date. Overall very happy with how it tuned out. Now the fun really begins!!!!!

Thanks Guys! I am starting to get exited about reassembly. I should be able to start on it Saturday. But I have also realized that if I have any chance to make the Races at Norwalk, and the Dream cruise in August, the front Suspension Mods will have to wait until this winter. I will have to consentrate on Plumping, Wiring, drivetrain, and Body in that order. And probably get the Dana 44 installed also.

Jeff it's looking real sweet, tick tock MonzaQue is coming fast! Says the guy with the NOT running car 1/2 hour after doing plumbing at his parents house instead of working on his own car. Well I think it is going to be awesome, back in the day that was a deadly combo, better weight bias and the same power of a stock late'70's early '80's 350, 4BBL or not, and your detailing is coming along great steering wheel valve covers etc, looking excellent! since you posted you are not going to have time form your 'snowflakes conversion, just paint the steel "GT'S" yellow and some real fine pinstripes gray and red on the raised part of the spokes. I know you can make this work until phase 2. Just an idea for the short term. Harry P.S. if you get yours done you can come and push my lazy fat @$$ LOL!

Thanks for the interest Guys, but sorry to say I have not touched the car after Bringing it home, as soon as I realised I wasn't going to make to make the big Pontiac Race weekend at Norwalk Ohio. I started working on my 69 Firebird Sprint, and that has started to eat up all my $$$ Again.

Larry, I had the stripes and Decal replicated by a South East Michigan Shop Called Gordon Stripe

http://gordonstripe.com/

They did a great job on the Decals, and an OK job on the Vinyl Stripes. I do not know how simalure the Astre and Sunbird Formula decals are, but if they are the same they can make some up for you. I had the advantage of my car being in original paint, and still had all the graphic's intact but worn and faded. Ask for Tina if you call, she is the one that measured, made, and installed the decals.

On a happier note, I did clean and orginize the garage some this last week end, so all the large parts are close to the car. Time to start running Wires, and brake and fuel lines!!!!!!

Yellow Pontiac Astre Formula 1976 was my first car and I cannot wait to see pictures of you restauration once completed. It is the first time I see another Yellow Astre Formula (I live in Canada) and always wondered how many were built. I cannot count the number of times I was asked "what model of car is this?" (at car whashes, stuck in traffic, in parking lots etc.). Brings back old memories :-)

Thanks for the kind words, I havent been able to do much for that last few months, really bad family time, both my Mother and Farther have been in and out of the ICU the last few weeks, and Now my Oldest Surviving Sister has been told she has Breast Cancer. Needless to say my spare time has been not used for my Hobby.

I hope to get back to it this weekend.
