Hi German Monza, If you need some pics to look at, I rebuilt my footwells in my vega. You can find them in my garage pics Hopefully you don't end up having problems with your A piller like i did but i also have pictures of those repairs too. Good luck

Something I've heard on another site/thread "Five minutes a day (or an hour or so) builds a car" I have found that to be very true. I don't get a lot of days that I can spend all day on my car, but I usually get 30 to 90 minutes most days, while I wait for my wife to get home from work. I have to say I have gotten more done in the last year, than I have in the last several years. So keep at it! You don't have to spend 10 hrs per day to get it done!

Absolutely right! I hope I can get some work done next week. I'll try fabricating my own floor pan, I have all the tools and technically all the skills, might be lacking some practice though. But no better way to practice than finding out how not to do it, the hard way.
Now that you have all the right brackets your engine is ready to go in the car, right? That's some serious progress there if you ask me.

So today I finally got my LCAs back from media blasting und got the rusty floor pieces out, after drilling out approximately 1 million spot welds.

Control Arms look like brand new. Nice :th: I hate RUST.....I have done way too much rust repair, thankfully I only have a couple small areas to address on my Monza. Look'n good.

Rust is the worst...just found out that the driver side door has been welded before, I'll have to see how bad it is. Will take some pictures later.

The Hatchback doors were very prone to rusting. My original Monza years ago when I opened the doors after a rain, water would pour out the front drain holes on the door. Never thought too much about it until I noticed rust bubbles on the door rear inners. Found out that I guess they were a bit over zealous with seam sealer, so much so that they plugged 2 or 3 of the drain holes at the rear and center of the door so it was filling up with water all the time and could only drain out the front drain holes. The ones on my other Monza were rusted out and repaired and rusted out a second time so hard to tell if the drain holes were plugged originally on those doors or not. Luckily a few years back I was able to connect with Len from this site and get the last set of rust free doors he had. Weren't cheap but still worth every penny as I won't have to make lowers and outers for the rusty doors.

Checked the doors I kept from my parts gar and guess what, same problem...I'll address this at some point. But first, the floor. Mad half a floor pan and it took me almost two days, but it looks stock-ish...
I didn't bother grinding down the welds perfectly because I plan to cover everything in sound deadening mats anyway.

Thanks guys! A friend donated his "old" 383 block and rotating assembly for my project. He bought a new crate 383 for his own car and we always kinda trade stuff back and forth. I basically helped him build his entire project so he's feeling like he had to make it up to me I guess...and I'm gladly accepting it. So that's what I'm planning to build. I just read somewhere that the Monza pan wouldn't fit a 383, so I'll have to see if I can make it work.

Rahul, here a link to instructions on how to modify a stock V8 pan to fit in a Monza. Maybe this might help with modifying a 383 pan. Just have to make sure the rotating assembly would clear the modified oil pan.
