gregh wrote:Yes the 75 has the bent bar, everything after that is straight as far as I know. The car is a bit of an oddity. Front brakes are another one off, the 75 uses solid rotors and doesn't interchange calipers either with other years. You can still get the pads I have a spare set sitting here that I'll never use because I'm converting my whole front end to the S10 spindles and brakes.

Thanks Gregh, I will also convert everything to S10 stuff.

The front brakes on a 75 Monza are the same as 1971 and later Vega brakes. In 1976 GM upgraded the Monza to vented rotors and larger caliper pistons and pads as well as larger rear brakes. The Vega maintained the solid rotor design through 77 although they did benefit from the larger rear brakes in 1976

Raoul do all 4 pistons have that dimple? Are they all the same dia. and depth? That notch in the outer raised ring is the normal way to denote the front of the piston. Let us know and the group will give you what we know about this. Harry

Yes, all (8) pistons have that dimple. I might just buy a set of flat top pistons anyway. But I’m curious

I know it's not real progress, I'm collecting parts for the 5 lug conversion at the moment.

But here are the last pictures of the parts car.

Took out the piece of modern exhaust art today. I guess flow doesn't matter anyway with a 262 :D
and started to disassemble the front end

I bought a set of 15" BMW wheels for 35 bucks and like the way they look. Got another set of 8 and 9x16 that I'll try to fit on the car. Will take some pictures next week

Hey folks, I managed to get three of the four lower control arm bolts out. One of them snapped right off and is still in the car, so I'll cut it out - it's rusted solid.
Can anyone tell me if they're available new? I'm not too comfortable reusing 45 year old bolts that I could only loosen with brute force.
On the LCA that came out rather easily I could even save all the ferrule washers - but I have ordered new ones anyway. Still happy about it :D

Restored the upper control arms and updated them with poly bushings (Energy Suspension #33126G) and S-10 ball joints (Moog K5208)
