Wondering if anyone has any experience with Jet-Hot ceramic header
coating? Is so, how has it held up in terms of durability, looks, and
did it really help cool the engine compartment down? Thanks, Clyde

As far as the coating holding up, it has very well. I had tried a
couple of other coating places before trying Jet Hot and they
discolored and faded and couldn't handle the heat. I have 2 cars
right now with the Jet Hot on them for at least 5 years now and both
have held up very good. As for temperature, I never did actual heat
tests before and after but it seemed like it lowered it. I could
always feel the heat on my face while looking in the driver's side of
the engine compartment that is not nearly the same now. I don't know
what that relates to in degrees. :) I think one of the first posts
on this club was something I put on about Jet Hot coatings. Let me
know if you need more info, Chris

headers ceramic coated from Hooker or I can purchase them directly
through Jet Hot for a little bit more. I have seen the Hookers with
the factory ceramic coating and it didn't seem as good as some others
I've seen. Just trying to figure out if there is really a difference
between different places that do ceramic coating. So far I have only
heard good things about Jet-Hot and I am just trying to get as much
real world info as I can. This is for a 350 Monza, I know it's not a
Cosworth but it's still a H-Body! If anyone else has any additional
info I would appreciate it. Thanks, Clyde

Ceramic header coating

I had my headers coated by Polymer Dynamics. I believe the coating
process is similar. I tried to measure the exhaust temps but did not
get good readings. I think all the vibrations etc. destroyed the
thermocouple. The underhood temps is lower. The pipes are still very
hot so be careful not to touch the pipes even if they are not
radiating heat. If you have used headers there is a cleaning fee,
they have to be super clean for the coating to stick. The factory job
would be the most economical and comparable to any other
coating service.
